DELICIOUS PHO: THE PHO-NOMINAL NEW VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT IN SPITALFIELDS
Back in March I visited the new Pho restaurant in Spitalfields Markets, Delicious Pho. This restaurant serves authentic Vietnamese dishes, including delicious Chè desserts full of fruit, beans and coconut milk.
I’m going to start off by saying Delicious Pho stands up to its name!
The menu focuses on the traditional pho dishes and there’s a huge choice of 18 different varieties to choose from. As a Pho lover, this made it extremely difficult to choose what we wanted, but luckily staff are very happy to help us decide. They know the menu inside out and we’re able to help us choose something that we’d enjoy.
Delicious Pho takes its inspiration from the south of Vietnam where the broth is sweeter in comparison to the pho from north Vietnam, which is more commonly found in the UK. Centred on a homemade broth where the flavour develops and deepens over 12 hours, rice noodles and protein are then added with a side of fresh herbs, beansprouts, lime and chilli.
Pho isn’t the only thing on the menu. Starters include zingy papaya or mango salads, chicken wings and summer rolls. We couldn’t decide so went with the Surf and Turf sharing platter which gave us a chance to try everything. I would 100 percent recommend ordering this and sharing it with a friend. The beef summer rolls were utter perfection.
We were there to try the Pho and this is where the restaurant continued to shine! I chose the Pho Bo Sate, a spicy satay broth with sliced steak while my friend chose the Veggies and Tofu Bro. They really were delicious. Full of flavour and they hit the spot on what was a slightly windy day.
Dessert wise I did try the coconut Chè Desserts and was pleasantly surprised. Chè is a traditional pudding found in Vietnam made up of delicious mix of tapioca, jelly, fruit and coconut milk. It was refreshing and light so the perfect way to end a very delightful meal.
We also washed our meal down with a bubble tea… and let’s just say Delicious Pho changed my mind about them. I was never a fan before visiting but our waiter helped create a bubble tea that was just right.
So if you love Pho and Vietnamese food in general, make sure you visit Delicious Pho. It really is a very welcome addition to Spitalfields Markets.
