Fantastic Cooking Classes at The Avenue Cookery School in Wandsworth

Whether you’re looking to improve your cooking skills, have a very cute date night, or spend quality time with friends – Avenue Cookery School is the perfect spot to have a night out with a difference.

Rather than spend another night at the local pub, enjoy your evening learning to make delicious food, chatting to new people and taking away some valuable skills, all at the same time.

There are a full range of classes, from more intensive 2 week options, to date night classics, you’re bound to find something for you. I’ve always been intrigued how the Nonna’s of Italy make it look so easy and relaxing making their pasta dishes, so I decided to start off with a Pasta Making Workshop.

The class was run excellently, with a strategically placed table at the front of the room, with a mirror placed behind, so you couldn’t miss a trick. The kitchen itself is really gorgeous, all stainless steel with every tool you could dream of needing in the kitchen. The class is also BYO also which actually created a lovely sociable environment, I did the class solo, but quickly made friends on my table.

We began by making our pasta dough, which was simple and quick to do, and were shown how to create an Orecchiette shape, which complemented the ragu we would be creating later. Following our pasta creation, we were taught some valuable knife skills to chop our vegetables and soon had delicious smelling ragus simmering away.

Perhaps my favourite part of the class was settling down to eat your finished goods at the end, a true reward from the hard work put in, and absolutely no dishes to do at the end – bonus! I had an absolutely wonderful time, and am keen to come back to try some of their more complex classes, such as Jamaican cooking and Indian cooking – watch this space…
