utopia

With QI co-creator, John Mitchinson and QI elf, Stevyn Colgan.

Plus David Bramwell, author of The No9 Bus to Utopia, cellular agriculturist Aspen Glencross and Nicole Pohl, editor of the Utopian Studies.

Imagine a world without government, crime or pollution. Imagine a world where energy is free to all and our streets and cities feel like caring, sharing communities. Imagine a world free of livestock farming, where meat, eggs and milk can instead be cultivated in our own homes. Imagine a world where men finally take a back seat and women are in charge… Hippy nonsense? A mad utopian pipe dream? Or could it be entirely achievable in our lifetime?

John Mitchinson (co-creator of QI), Stevyn Colgan (QI elf), David Bramwell (author of The No9 Bus to Utopia), Aspen Glencross (Ph.d cellular agriculture) and Nicole Pohl (editor of Utopian Studies) have explored utopian ideas through their books, community work and scientific research. Tonight they will challenge the popular notion that the world is destined to go to hell in a handcart, in favour of a more optimist vision for the future.

Ideas from the audience will be encouraged and debated too.

The Road to Utopia will re-invigorate your soul and send you home in the knowledge that it’s going to be ok after all (especially if you buy some books at the end).
