To help boost local businesses and bring day-trippers back to London post-pandemic, a one-off special event is set to take place at Waterloo Station this October. Visitors to the station will have the opportunity to win a host of prizes, from free theatre tickets to overnight hotel stays.
This is one of 12 in-station events taking place around the UK, as part of the rail industry’s biggest national marketing campaign in a generation. Under the strapline ‘Let’s get back on track’, the new advert features moments of joy made possible by rail such as grandparents meeting their new grandchild for the first time and a couple being reunited after months apart during lockdown.
To help kickstart local businesses getting their customers back to pre-pandemic levels, train companies are offering 12 people the chance to win free travel for a year as part of a ‘golden ticket giveaway’, with bespoke tickets designed by artist Claire Rollet. People can nominate someone who they think deserves a year of free travel by visiting nationalrail.co.uk/goldenticket.
