Hocus Focus: Black Sheep Coffee Launches New Iced Ube Matcha Latte
I’m Black Sheep Coffee is leaning into Halloween with a limited-edition Iced Ube Matcha Latte.
This seasonal drink blends earthy matcha with ube — a purple yam known for its vivid colour and subtly sweet, nutty flavour. It’s made using ceremonial-grade matcha, sweet ube syrup and Black Sheep’s mushroom-powered Focus Blend. It’s served with the a choice of milk over ice.
The result is a vibrant violet and green iced latte that’s is bisually striking. I’ve only had ube in a cocktail before, but it was sweet, creamy and a hint of vanilla. I had one after doing a few errands and found it refreshing. It’s a bold, playful beverage, suited to the more adventurous drinkers.

Founded in 2013 by Eirik and Gabriel—who quit their jobs on the same day with a vision of ridding the world of average-tasting coffee—Black Sheep Coffee has built its identity around rebellion and innovation. The duo sourced the first speciality-grade 100% Robusta coffee, defying market norms and setting the tone for a brand that continues to push boundaries. Now co-CEOs, they remain hands-on, sourcing beans globally and expanding a diverse menu that includes four specialty Arabica blends: Love Berries, Blue Volcano, Rebel Decaf, and rotating seasonal editions.
With over 100 UK locations and a growing community of supporters, Black Sheep’s rapid expansion reflects not just a love of bold coffee, but a mission to disrupt corporate sameness and offer something distinctly different—whether in-store or at home.
The Iced Ube Matcha Latte is available across UK locations from 15th October for a limited run of approximately three weeks.
