Mamounia Lounge Knightbridge Review

Middle Eastern restaurant and cocktail bar, Mamounia Lounge, in Knightsbridge, unveiled a new A La Carte menu this February. ONIN.London were lucky enough to be invited to try out the new offering at an exclusive press dinner. We were treated to traditional Moroccan and Lebanese cooking with contemporary flavours and serves many of the dishes in sharing plates to create a unique social dining experience.

Before settling down to eat we were treated to delicious cocktails and wine and got to take in the beautiful decor of the restaurant. It’s beautiful and almost transports you to another world.

We’d be told before visiting that Head Chef Thamer Darwish has created a wonderful menu which showcases classic Arabic dishes with West London flair. He certainly has and it didn’t disappoint.

Dinner was served banquet-style, starting with a selection of hot and cold mezze, before moving on to some traditional Moroccan and Lebanese food.

Favourites included the Seafood Bourek: Golden Brown Crispy Filo Pastry with King Prawns, Crab Meat, Scallops & Vermicelli spiced with Chermoula served with Harissa Yoghurt, Kadaif Prawns: King Prawns wrapped with Crispy Kadaif Pastry served with Smashed Avocado & Lime (I think I ate about 6 of them… they were delicious), Moutabel:Smoked Aubergine Puree with Tahini, Garlic & Lemon Juice topped with Pomegranate Seeds served with Warm Lebanese Bread and the Chicken Kafta.

My friend and the other guests enjoyed the other grilled meats and spiced lamb meatballs & crispy turkey bacon served in a tomato sauce.

The Baghir Crepes were delicious and even though I was very full by this stage… I did have two!

We had a great evening out and definitely recommend if you’re looking  for delicious Moroccan and Lebanese food. What’s even more cool is that Mamounia Lounge, Knightsbridge, is also offering their Lebanese and Moroccan Afternoon Tea for FREE to mums who dine in a party of four. The Afternoon Tea features a selection of mini wraps, savoury and sweet hand-made pastries and authentic Morrocan tea.
