Noodle and Beer Chinatown Review

Following on from the success of their first site on Bell Lane in Spitalfields, Noodle and Beer opened its doors on Wardour Street earlier this month; bringing their love of Sichuan spice to Chinatown.

Set across two floors, Noodle and Beer blends a bold design with timeless appeal. Upstairs is a bright space where a dazzling mosaic floor leads to a selection of beechwood tables and chairs, all punctuated with chilli red accents. Downstairs has a more decadent feel thanks to its all-red interior, dim lighting and luxurious décor.

On a busy Saturday night, we sat downstairs in the new restaurant and tucked straight in to some of the mouthwatering food and drinks on the menu.

The menu is split into Meaty, Veggie, Rice, Dry Noodles and Noodles with Soup – so we were really spoiled for choice. To start, we ordered the Sichuan Spice Fried Chicken Wings, which had a slight kick (but weren’t too hot for me), some Edamame, and the Beef Spring Roll.

I was overwhelmed by the number of noodle dishes to choose from, so we decided to share the Miso Butter Noodles (one of their specials) and the signature Super King Braised Beef Ribs with Blanket Noodles, which was served with succulent beef that was cut off the bone at the table. We also tried the Jiang-You Chao Fan, a tasty and light fried rice with chicken and vegetables, topped with a fried egg.

To wash it all down, we both opted for Mojitos – one regular and one pineapple, which were both delicious and refreshing. As well as classic cocktails, they also have a menu of signature cocktails, with a twist on some of the classic flavours.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere pre theatre, for an intimate date night, or for those late-night noodles (they’re open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays!), Noodle and Beer is one to add to your list.
