Onin.London Visits Sound At The Cumberland Hotel

A wise playwright once said ‘if music be the fruit of love then let us feast’.  Now I may have paraphrased that quote slightly but make no mistake you’re in for a multi sensory treat when you dine at the SOUND at the Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch.

They launched a new menu in March which is guaranteed to have you salivating with anticipation prior to making your order and believe me their offerings do not disappoint. The starters include flavoursome smaller plates such as  the Fiery jalapeño poppers, Jumbo prawns with spicy mango salsa, Grilled corn ribsButtermilk Chicken Tenders and the Ultimate Onion Ring Tower. These dishes work well for tapas style dining to accompany the eclectic cocktail selection on offer or equally as a prelude to your main course.  Other main characters in this culinary musical are the indulgent BBQ meat platters, the holy grail for all meat-lovers, featuring succulent melt-in-mouth meats, piled high and served with sharing sides and gravy for dipping, drizzling, or dunkin’.

The Smokehouse Platter is lavishly stacked with BBQ-glazed smoked beef feather blade, pulled pork shoulder, glazed pork ribs, Texas hot link sausage, grilled corn ribs, BBQ ranch beans, red cabbage slaw, pickles and tear ‘n’ share mezzaluna bread. Whilst the Big Bird Platter is loaded with BBQ-glazed skin-on chicken breast, juicy slow-roasted chicken wings in a choice of BBQ or Buffalo Hot Sauce, buttermilk chicken tenders, grilled corn ribs, BBQ ranch beans, red cabbage slaw, pickles and tear ‘n’ share mezzaluna bread. If that wasn’t enough to make you loosen your waistband, there’s even more.

Among flavour popping small plates, banging burgers and gooey desserts; the star of the new menu will be the whooping 20oz Tomahawk steak. Juicy, thick-cut and full of flavour, the steak is ideal for sharing and served with creamy mash, chilli greens, baked tomato topped with a garlic and herb crumble, as well as salsa verde and red wine gravy.   My steak was scintillating, and the flavours were delightful as they were well complimented by the sides, and the portions were very generous, you will not leave unsatisfied.

I had touched on this briefly earlier, but the drink selection is top tier, with a variety of cocktails that coincide with your choice of preferred spirt.  My personal favourite was the ‘Sound Storm’ but honestly with the selections they have on offer I have no doubt you’ll find your own favourite.

However what is dinner without dessert? As a man with a sweet tooth I was compelled to try the hot fudge brownie.  A hot chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, chocolate sprinkles and cream!  Yes it was as delightfully decadent as it sounds! So much so that I licked my spoon clean to ensure that not one morsel of sweet chocolate or fudge went to waste.

Underpinning the whole dining experience is a wonderful unique musical theme.  This is something that runs throughout he whole establishment from the décor in the café the names on the menu selection and the live music that adds to the ambience whilst you dine.  All of these factors make the SOUND, a unique experience the perfect blend of delicious food, exciting sport and live entertainment at SOUND. It’s where restaurant culture meets sports passion, where live music takes centre stage. SOUND offers a hub for social occasions and delivers vibrancy and energy through a versatile live music and entertainment offering. A 3-in-1 venue with great vibes, mouth-watering dishes, and unforgettable entertainment. Don’t miss out and come and taste the music for yourself.
