Pivot Bar & Bistro Review

I’ve always found it tricky to find somewhere decent to eat pre-theatre in Covent Garden, but Pivot Bar & Bistro has been firmly added to the list.

Situated across two floors of 3 Henrietta Street, Pivot serves a menu of British classics with dishes featuring the best seasonal ingredients.

We ate on the first floor dining room, overlooking the Piazza – ideal for people watching on a Friday night and listening to the buskers in the main square. We sat down around 6.30pm and I expected to be the only ones in the restaurant but was pleasantly surprised that there were a few families and couples surrounding us; some of whom I’d imagine were off to catch a show after their meal.

We both opted for a Late-Night Sipping on arrival, which was a blend of Sipsmith, vodka, elderflower liqueur, cranberry, yuzu and grapefruit bitters, topped with an edible flower. Considering the central location, the cocktails are reasonably priced, and ours complemented our main courses really well.

I ordered the Roasted Cod Fillet, with a side of garlic new potatoes (yum) and my partner had a Bacon & Mature Cheddar Cheeseburger. The burger and chips were generously portioned. I was surprised he managed to finish it, but I was told it was delicious! The cod was crispy on top, and the warm tartare sauce was really tasty, served with a handful of seasonal vegetables.

I have a real sweet tooth, so was very excited to share the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Mousse for dessert. The STP wasn’t quite warm and sticky enough for my liking, but I loved that the rich mousse was topped with caramelised hazelnut and clotted cream. This made it felt like just the right level of indulgent.

Pivot Bar & Bistro is really good value for money and is located perfectly for if you fancy a bite after wandering around the shops or pre-theatre, so definitely one to keep in mind!
