Powers Gold Label Distiller’s Cut

Powers Gold Label Distiller’s Cut recently arrived in the UK market. Eagerly anticipated my the modern drinker, this Irish whiskey is steeped in history.

Founding father James Powers created a whiskey in Dublin in 1791 using only the center of the distillate. Fast forward over 200 years and Powers is crafted in Middleton Co Cork. Still to this day cut from the heart of the distillate, more top and tail is thrown away than any other Irish whiskey.

Triple distilled and left to mature in American oak casks, Powers may take longer to produce, but the result is an unmistakable spicy, bold yet honeyed character with notes of cinnamon clove oil and white pepper in balance with russet apples and ripe pears, on a background of charred oak.

Enjoyed neat or as a mixer, why not try the Powers Honey Highball:

Fill a highball to the top with ice. Pour 50ml of Powers Gold Label, Add 20ml Honey Syrup and a  squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Top with premium soda water and stir. Garnish with a lemon slice . Delicious!

Powers is available at Waitrose, Tesco and Amazon, RRP £30.
