Review: Pop Up Screens Dirty Dancing
The cinematic experience has evolved from just heading to your local Odeon and watching the newest release. Two of the joys of London are its amazing array of parks and innovative ideas, Pop Up Screens have utilised both of these assets to show Londoners the beauty of cinema in the summer.
Last week we pootled town to view the timeless Dirty Dancing in Holborn’s Corams Fields, I’m unashamed to say we both have a soft spot for Patrick Swayze and his dancers bod. Luckily the weather was kind and wrapping up in coats was a more than adequate combat for the cool breeze, so armed with some snacks we settled in for a night of raunchy dancing and catchy tunes.
Oh my goodness it was so much fun! The enthusiastic cloud cheered on Jonny, booed Robbie and sang along to the classics. In the scene where Baby and Jonny get it on, some couple stood up and did a little dirty dancing of their own! Plus one dude at the end reinacted Baby’s dancing in the final scene, top marks for enthusiasm!
When the film ended we we were rather sad, ebverybody was jamming! Such an enjoyable film experience will make me think twice about visiting my local flicks, I’m ready for more movie related adventures!
Pop Up Screens have several venues left on their summer tour including Morden, Fulham, Lewisham, Greenwich and Hammersmith. Check out here for listings or their website, @popupscreens, /popupscreens.
