The Royal Horseguards Hotel unveils a quintessentially English summer terrace – step into a country garden in the heart of central London
With a complimentary drink for the first 50 guests every day during launch week (12th – 16th May)
Nestled beside Whitehall Gardens, The Royal Horseguards Hotel is unveiling its English country garden terrace for the summer season. Opening its doors on 12th May, the terrace will offer Londoners a rare tranquil, secret garden escape, just off the River Thames, in the heart of central London.
During opening week, from Monday 12th May – Friday 16th May, the first 50 guests each day will be treated to a complimentary welcome drink, including any choice of cocktail, wine or beer. To redeem the free drink all guests have to say is, ‘1884’ on arrival, a nod to the year The Royal Horseguards Hotel opened.
Set to be the must-visit, in-the-know destination of the summer, the quintessentially English country garden style terrace is a nod to the rich heritage of The Royal Horseguards building, which has previously played host to Winston Churchill, Lloyd- George and the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.

With a live growing tomato wall, allotments and sweeping views over The London Eye and beyond, The Terrace at The Royal Horseguards Hotel is where alfresco dining meets timeless heritage. A secluded haven, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, The Terrace will provide a charming spot for all occasions, from leisurely lunches to intimate dinners and lively evening gatherings.
Relaxed, yet refined, the alfresco charm of the inviting garden terrace is complete with comfy wicker sofas, blankets and country garden decor. From fresh salads to classic British favourites like Fish & Chips, The Terrace brings together the finest ingredients. Favourites on the summer menu include Pan Seared Seabass and the Grilled Lamb Cutlet, or Super Food Salad and “Sumac” Roasted Butternut Squash for a lighter option.
Highlights on the drinks menu include The Terrace Spritz, featuring Beefeater 24 gin, elderflower tonic, cloudy apple juice and mint, The Raspberry Fizzante; Belvedere vodka, cranberry juice, sparkling wine and raspberries, as well as The Pimm’s Spritz; Pimm’s No.1, sparkling wine, lemon tonic, strawberries and cucumber. The spritz and elegant cocktail menus will be accompanied by an extensive list of wines, beers and spirits.

The Terrace is dog-friendly, welcoming well behaved dogs to enjoy the hidden garden oasis along with their owners.
