Step into a storybook this spring with a charming new family afternoon tea at Lanes of London on Park Lane, inspired by the much-loved children’s classic Guess How Much I Love You.
Bringing the gentle magic of Little and Big Nutbrown Hare to life, the experience weaves playful, imaginative references to the story throughout the exquisitely crafted menu. Perfect for a Mother’s Day celebration, special Easter family treat or simply a whimsical afternoon, this is a nostalgic yet refined take on afternoon tea.
First published by Walker Books in 1994, Guess How Much I Love You – written by Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram – has sold over 61.5 million copies worldwide and is available in 57 languages.
The centrepiece of this enchanting experience is the array of beautifully presented sweet treats inspired by the 30-year classic. Highlights include a whisker tip hare biscuit that is almost too cute to eat; a miniature wildflower meadow, made with rhubarb confit, wild honey panna cotta and cocoa soil; as well as a chocolate orange tree stump and a light and fluffy lychee rose cloud with magical moon motif, paying homage to the book’s most iconic quote: “I love you right up to the moon – and back”.
Savoury delights include a duck terrine on brioche toast alongside a prawn cocktail pastry puff; followed by chicken, asparagus and mayonnaise on white bread and an heirloom beetroot and goats cheese basket, while freshly baked scones arrive with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. Guests can choose from a selection of JING teas or opt for a glass of prosecco, while little ones can sip on hot chocolate or fresh fruit juice and enjoy their own assortment of dainty sandwiches.
Little ones will leave with their very own Nutbrown Hare soft toy and a copy of Guess How Much I Love You in a gift bag, keeping the magic of the story alive long after the experience ends.
The Guess How Much I Love You afternoon tea is priced from £65 per adult with a glass of bubbles and £45 per child including drink and keepsake gift bag. Available Friday-Sunday from 12pm–4pm at Lanes of London, between 13th March and 19th April.
