Silly Old Bear Afternoon Tea and Winnie the Pooh exhibit Review

The Gore London and The Pelham Londonpart of StarhotelsCollezione, dazzle with their amazing afternoon tea in celebration of The Victoria & Albert Museum’s latest exhibition: Winnie The Pooh – Exploring a Classic. It is the ultimate family afternoon out and the tea is out of this world.

We chose to have out tea at The Pelham. The Pelham is an elegant boutique hotel in the heart of South Kensington. It is located a short walk from Kensington Gardens, the inspiration for the eclectic, brightly coloured design of its interiors. It has the aristocratic atmosphere of a London townhouse and its interiors is a romantic mix of elegant patterns and rich tones, complemented by the warm welcome and flawless service of a noble residence.

This playful afternoon tea features treats inspired by our favourite foodie bear such as Hunny Pops (Honey parfait, white chocolate and caramel glace lollipops), Eeyore’s sweet treat (Chocolate mousse, crumble and fresh orange compote) and Tiggeron (Passion fruit striped macaron). Just look at the spread (see image)! It was amazing and everything tasted fantastic. My daughter felt like a princess as we sat in a beautiful private room in The Pelham London hotel, we sat in front of a warm fire place as we laughed, drank tea (hot chocolate) and ate the amazing treats on offer. The tea is the perfect blend of sweet and savoury, with food that is great for adults and children. My favourite were the scones served with homemade jam, lemon curd and Cornish clotted cream. My daughter loved all the sandwiches on offer in particular she said the yoghurt and cucumber. The Pelham staff left nothing undone and the experience was perfect, setting the tone for quite a relaxed afternoon.

In addition to the tea, we received complimentary access to the ever-popular Winnie the Pooh V&A exhibition. This is part of the tea offer and well worth doing both. After spending an afternoon enjoying precious family time, the exhibition is a great way for the children to run off the sweet treats. The exhibition takes children on animmersive journey with Pooh and his friends, where they are able to discover the story behind the creative partnership of A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard, brought to life through sketches, letters, photographs, cartoons, ceramics and fashion. To top it all off there is a secret hidden slide and a sketching area where children can invent new friends to join the clan.

The afternoon tea menu and exhibition has been designed to have universal appeal, ensuring both adults and the little piglets have an unforgettable experience!
