Skewd At The Grove Review
On a sunny Sunday evening, we head to Skewd at The Grove; authentic Anatolian cuisine served in the backdrop of the hotel’s Walled Garden. We had previously visited the Cockfosters branch of the restaurant, and I was interested to see how the summer pop-up at the five-star hotel was going to compare; and we weren’t disappointed.
We sat outside, which is covered and has heaters by the tables in case the weather isn’t good, but we were lucky it stayed dry and warm. We loved the backdrop of a chilled summer playlist as we ate, and enjoyed being able to watch the chefs hard at work outside.
We were welcomed by some of the same friendly team from the Cockfosters branch and talked through their favourites on the menu. I could’ve happily ordered one of everything from the Mezze starters, but we decided to share the Cacik with bread to whet our appetite and a mocktail each; both of which were sweet and refreshing.
When the mains were served, I was glad I saved space….I ordered the signature Lamb Shish with Chips and Seasonal Greens and my other half ordered the Cote De Boeuf. Both pieces of meat were seasoned and cooked to perfection and whilst I was really full at the end of the meal, I’d happily go back and order both of these dishes again.
We couldn’t leave without at least trying the desserts, so let the waiter order for us. He brought over the lightest Walnut Pudding and Kunefe, served with Vanilla ice cream.
We both left comfortably full and happily satisfied with what we ate – and I look forward to going back to either The Grove or the Cockfosters branch again soon!
