THE MANDRAKE COLLABORATES WITH 3D ARTIST HARRIET DAVEY FOR ITS ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE SERIES

The collaboration between the luxury hotel and the Berlin-based 3D Artist and Art Director will explore the fluidity of gender-non-conforming virtual characters

Fitzrovia’s multi-award-winning hotel, The Mandrake(www.themandrake.com), has announced the latest collaboration in its Artist In Residence Programme. The partnership will see the luxury hotel collaborate with the visionary 3D artist Harriet Davey (she/they) for an exclusive residency from 21^st-28^th August to showcase Harriet Davey’s art, inviting guests into a world of shimmering, otherworldly beings and captivating animations.

Harriet Davey, based in Berlin, has garnered significant recognition for her exceptional talent in crafting glossy, luminescent alien-like creatures that captivate the imagination. Her unique artistic style merges technical precision with boundless experimentation, creating a realm of ethereal, post-earth imaginings that transport viewers to surreal and mesmerising dimensions.

Launching to the public on the 21^st of August, during her residency at The Mandrake, Harriet will be stationed at Studio 5, where she/they will immerse herself in the creative process to bring her art to life. This rare behind-the-scenes glimpse will allow guests to witness her artistic process first-hand and see her creative process in real-time via an interactive live stream on Twitch. Accessed from the hotel’s art-filled lobby space, the live stream will give a unique insight into the software and techniques at the heart of her art and allow visitors to interact with Harriet while constructing her digital masterpieces.

Additional highlights of this collaboration include the display of Harriet’s NFTs and video artworks in the hotel’s iconic entrance ‘portal’ corridor and the creation of a unique Instagram face filter based on her Mandrake character creation so guests can become her artwork.

As part of the collaboration, The Mandrake will arrange three open studio sessions between 5-6 pm on Saturday 26^th, Sunday 27^th, and Monday 28^th of August, to allow art enthusiasts and curious onlookers to engage directly with Harriet Davey. These interactive sessions will provide a captivating platform for Harriet to share insights into her artistic inspirations, techniques, and the stories behind her evocative creations. The Mandrake’s Artist in Residence program strives to provide an interactive playground where artists and visitors interact in the hotel’s exquisitely designed spaces to create original, unique, provocative, and live works of art. Previous artists in residence include Jonas Burgert,Haris Nukem, Kour Pour, David Paul Kay and artist Slawn, who created a magnificent piece in collaboration with American Rapper A$AP Rocky.
