Boxcar Launches Neighbourhood Craft Nights: A New Series of Workshops and Events for the Local Community
Boxcar, London’s collection of neighbourhood eateries across Marylebone and Hyde Park, is set to launch its Neighbourhood Craft Nights this February, a series of hands-on workshops aimed at bringing the local community together. Attendees are welcome to sip on wine or cocktails and enjoy bar snacks during the workshops, offering the perfect chance to relax and unwind while getting creative.
The events will initially take place in the Tap Room, the cosy private events space at Boxcar Bar & Grill, with plans to expand to Boxcar Bread & Wine and Boxcar Baker & Deli in the upcoming months. The programme is constantly growing and being updated with new events and workshops, but the first round will feature expert-led sessions in pottery, candle-making, and screen printing. All materials will be provided, and participants will take home their creations.

Hand-Built Pottery with Sampada Gurung

Under the guidance of Sampada Gurung, ceramist and former contestant on Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down, participants will learn simple hand-building techniques to create their own clay masterpieces. All materials are provided, and participants will get to take home their finished pieces.
Sampada Gurung: Originally from Nepal and now based in London, where she runs regular workshops from her Northwest London studio, Sampada’s unique style combines illustration and ceramics, exploring surreal human forms and symbolism. She says, “Pottery is such a tactile and meditative experience, and I can’t wait to share my techniques and passion with everyone at Boxcar. It’s going to be a wonderful evening of creativity.”
“Bendy Boys” Candle Making & Painting with Harri Price

On the second evening, artist Harri Price will host a playful candle-making session in the Tap Room. Participants will craft their own unique “Bendy Boy” candles, experimenting with techniques to twist, bend, and paint their designs. The workshop provides a relaxed and inspiring setting, with one complimentary drink included per ticket. Additional drinks and bar snacks will be available for purchase, and attendees are welcome to complete the evening with a meal in the restaurant upstairs.

March 12th: Screen Printing with Helen Rawlinson

Textile designer Helen Rawlinson will lead an interactive screen printing workshop, where participants will design paper stencils and print their custom designs onto a tote bag to take home. Aprons and all materials will be provided.
