A Delicious Italian Feast at Selfridges Food Court
During a recent visit to Selfridges, I had the opportunity to indulge in a wonderful Italian meal at one of their food court counters, Nonna Mamma, and I must say, it was a delightful surprise. If you’re in the area and craving authentic Italian cuisine, this spot is definitely worth a visit. From the cozy atmosphere to the thoughtfully prepared dishes, my experience was both enjoyable and satisfying.
To begin, I opted for the classic Cacio e Pepe, and it was the perfect start to the meal. The pasta was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of bite, and the creamy pecorino cheese and black pepper sauce was simple yet absolutely delicious. The balance of flavours was spot on—creamy, savoury, and with a lovely kick of pepper. It was a comforting yet refined dish that set the tone for the rest of the meal.
Next, I tried the Rigatoni Ragu, and it did not disappoint. The rigatoni was hearty and tender, with each piece of pasta generously coated in a rich, savoury ragu sauce. The meat was tender and flavourful, having been slow-cooked to perfection, and the sauce itself had a depth of flavour that made every bite incredibly satisfying. It was a comforting dish, one that perfectly embodies the heart of Italian cooking—simple, high-quality ingredients brought together in a way that’s was satisfying.
I also tried the Burrata Ravioli with Fresh Tomato Sauce, which was light and refreshing. The ravioli was delicate, filled with creamy burrata, and paired beautifully with a tangy, vibrant tomato sauce. The sauce had just the right balance of acidity and sweetness, and the fresh burrata really shone through. It was a dish that felt fresh and light, offering a nice contrast to the richness of the pasta and ragu.
For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying both the Tiramisu and the Ricotta Cannoli with Pistachio. The tiramisu was a true classic—light, creamy, and with just the right amount of espresso flavor to elevate the sweetness. It was indulgent without being too heavy, making it a perfect end to the meal. The Cannoli was equally impressive. The shell was perfectly crispy and held a rich ricotta filling with chopped pistachios that was both creamy and tasty. It wasn’t overly sweet, which allowed the natural nuttiness of the pistachios to come through, making it a delightful treat.
Overall, my experience at this Italian food counter in the Selfridges food court was excellent. The food was fresh, authentic, and expertly prepared, proving that great Italian cuisine doesn’t always require a sit-down restaurant. The casual, bustling atmosphere of the food court didn’t take away from the high quality of the dishes, and I left feeling completely satisfied. If you find yourself shopping at Selfridges and craving a delicious Italian meal, I highly recommend stopping by. From the comforting Cacio e Pepe to the indulgent Pistachio Cannoli, every dish was a treat, and I can’t wait to return for more.
