Thai Square Spa

Tucked discreetly between Trafalgar Square and the Thames Embankment, Thai Square Spa is a hidden sanctuary that feels a world away from the chaos of central London. I was blown away by the size of the spa! From the moment I descended into the beautifully restored Victorian bathhouse, the city noise was left behind, replaced by soft lighting, gentle aromas and an unmistakable sense of calm. On this particular visit, I had the entire thermal space to myself – an indulgent luxury that made the experience feel even more special.

Housed within a historic building that once served as a traditional bathhouse, the spa seamlessly blends Thai, Roman and Turkish influences. Mosaic tiles, candlelit alcoves and carved Thai details create a setting that feels both opulent and grounding. It’s atmospheric without being overwhelming – a space designed for true escapism.

I began my journey moving between the sauna and steam room, allowing the heat to gradually melt away layers of tension. The steam room, infused with subtle aromatics, felt especially restorative, while the sauna offered a deeper, muscle-softening warmth. With no other guests around, I could linger unhurriedly, fully embracing the stillness. The jacuzzi was the final pre-treatment ritual – powerful jets easing tight shoulders and lower back, preparing my body for what would become one of the most effective massages I’ve had in years.

Thai Square Spa was conceived by the team behind the acclaimed Thai Square Restaurants, born from a vision to extend authentic Thai hospitality beyond cuisine and into wellness. That philosophy is evident in every detail. Much like Thai cooking, Thai healing rituals are rooted in balance, natural elements and holistic wellbeing. Here, those traditions are honoured and elevated with contemporary expertise.

My therapist welcomed me with genuine warmth before beginning a traditional Thai-style massage. It was, without question, firm! This was not a gentle, flowing spa massage; it was precise, deeply therapeutic bodywork designed to release long-held tension. Skilled hands, elbows and stretches worked through stubborn knots with confidence and care. At moments it bordered on intense, yet it was exactly what my body needed having worked in a desk job for years. With each movement, stress seemed to unravel.

What sets Thai Square Spa apart is its commitment to authenticity without sacrificing luxury. The Royal treatment collection sits alongside specialised traveller therapies, maternity treatments and thoughtfully curated bridal and couple packages, ensuring there is something for every stage of life. It’s no surprise the spa has consistently ranked among Europe’s finest, earning accolades such as Best Luxury Oriental Spa in Europe and London’s Best Luxury Thai Spa.

Leaving the spa and stepping back into the bustle of Trafalgar Square felt like whiplash. The traffic hummed, tourists gathered, London carried on, but I floated through it all, tension-free and very restored.

I will most certainly be back!
