Rhum Tavern x London Terrariums Launch Masterclass Series
This spring, Rhum Tavern and London Terrariums come together to unveil a one-of-a-kind masterclass series inspired by the myth and legend of medal award winning Kraken Rum. This collaboration blends botanical craft with dark maritime folklore. The next masterclass is occurring on the 15th April, with tickets currently available. The masterclass runs from 6:30-8:30pm, with tickets priced at £55 per person.
Drawing on the legend that tells of a rum barrel that survived a Kraken attack, stained black by the Beast’s ink. When the barrel was recovered from the depths by a pirate crew, it supposedly was full of moss and fauna from the Kraken’s realm. This idea now lives on in terrariums: small, self-sustaining worlds that celebrate resilience and the unexpected beauty that can emerge from darkness.
Hosted at Rhum Tavern, the West End bar that houses London’s largest collection of rums, the masterclasses invite guests to craft their own living ecosystem inside the award-winning Kraken Rum bottle, expertly guided by the team at London Terrariums. The experience begins with an introduction to the history and science of terrariums: from Victorian plant hunters to their trendy modern revival, before guests are guided step-by-step through the creation of their own self-sustaining miniature world using curated plants, mosses and materials.
Each ticket includes all tools and materials needed, a Kraken bottle terrarium to take home, and a detailed care guide. Guests will also enjoy two expertly crafted Kraken cocktails from an exclusive menu, featuring serves such as The Black Wake: a smooth blend of coffee-roasted Kraken rum and cold brew, Ruby Depths Kraken, combining spiced rum with cherry, vanilla and citrus, and Cocoa Tempest, where chocolate-washed rum meets bright orange soda. Additional cocktails will be available to purchase on the night, and guests will receive a special secret Kraken gift.
