An Afternoon at Market Halls Paddington
A sunny afternoon in London, a long-awaited holiday on the horizon, and a direct Elizabeth line journey to Heathrow in just 30 minutes – equals the perfect start to a trip. Before heading to the airport, I stopped at Market Halls Paddington, a vibrant food and drink destination that has quickly become one of Paddington’s most exciting social hotspots.
Located just moments from Paddington Station and set within a beautifully restored section of Winchester House, Market Halls Paddington effortlessly combines history, atmosphere, and an impressive culinary offering across two expansive floors. The venue immediately feels energetic but relaxed, filled with natural light, stylish interiors, and the buzz of people enjoying everything from casual lunches to after-work cocktails.
What makes Market Halls Paddington stand out is the sheer variety available under one roof. Whether you’re craving Australian-inspired brunches from Farm Girl, authentic Malaysian dishes from Gopal’s Corner, Greek souvlaki, Mexican tacos, or British comfort food, there is genuinely something for every mood and appetite.

As the sun poured in through the windows, cocktails were the obvious place to start. I tried three, each beautifully presented and perfectly balanced, but the standout was undoubtedly the lychee martini. Refreshing, slightly sweet, and incredibly smooth, it felt like the perfect drink to mark the beginning of a holiday.
Food-wise, the hardest part was deciding what to order. The beauty of Market Halls is that you are not limited to one cuisine or one kitchen – you can mix and match dishes from multiple vendors, creating your own personalised feast.
From Jude’s Thai, I ordered the prawn pad krapow, which delivered bold, punchy flavours with just the right amount of heat. Fresh prawns, fragrant basil, and rich seasoning made it one of the standout savoury dishes of the afternoon. From The Ashes Parrilla, I tried the corn ribs and loaded fries, both packed with smoky, indulgent flavours that perfectly captured the comfort-food side of the venue. The corn ribs were particularly memorable, charred, buttery, and impossible to stop eating.
To finish, I sampled the crispy buffalo chicken wings from Black Bear Burger & 20ft Fried Chicken. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and coated in a punchy buffalo sauce, they were everything you would want from classic wings done properly.
Beyond the food and drinks, what makes Market Halls Paddington so appealing is the atmosphere. It transitions seamlessly from daytime dining and coffee meetings to evening drinks, DJ sets, and late-night gatherings. There is an energy to the space that feels modern, social, and distinctly London.
For travellers, locals, or anyone looking for an exciting dining destination near Paddington Station, Market Halls Paddington delivers on every level. With incredible food variety, expertly made cocktails, and unbeatable transport connections, it was the ideal place to begin my holiday in style.
