A Stunning Sunday Lunch at Richmond Riverside at Gaucho

Known for its quality meat, this destination just has that extra je ne ne sais quoi

I’m an avid fan of Gaucho and have been known to enjoy many a delicious cut of steak within its walls. But, did you know they’re also pretty famous for their Sunday roast? My absolute favourite destination out of the portfolio has to be the Richmond riverside location.

Richmond is just made for Sundays. The quaint boutiques, a leisurely stroll alongside the river, watching the boats – for Londoners, it’s about as idyllic as it comes. On arrival to their beautiful riverside destination, you’re greeted with the smile and offered indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor section is an absolute sun trap in those summer months, and the indoor option is cosy and refined.

With the winter chill starting to set in, we took a seat and opted for a glass of fizz to start, why not right? The starter menu is fairly small and compact, which to be honest is how I like it on a Sunday, but we’d highly recommend the Prawns Al Ajillo or the Steak Tartare which is served with a tasty chilli emulsion, pickled daikon and tortilla crisps.

Roasts here are served from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and offer the choice of the classic beef roast or a never ending roast. The bottomless option includes bottomless food, rather than drinks. With it comes roast Picaña, cuadril of beef, or roast leg of lamb, accompanied by the finest Yorkshire puddings, unlimited seasonal vegetables and red wine gravy. It’s entirely delicious and indulgent and perfect if you have someone in the family with a large appetite!

There’s also a beautiful chateaubriand option which is perfect to share. Side dishes consist of the best of the best: cauliflower cheese, roast butternut squash or truffle dauphinoise, all of which are exquisite. Red wine options are plentiful, or soft drinks if you’re less of a Sunday drinker – we get it, those Sunday scaries.

Should you decide you have room for a dessert, and you must, simply opt for the Braeburn apple crumble served with vanilla custard cream – just how grandma would have made it. Creamy, sweet and delicious.

The views along the Richmond river are instantly calming and this truly is the best Sunday afternoon activity. Why not pop along to the famous Ted Lasso pub for a night cap, or actually… just stay at Gaucho as the cocktails are pretty awesome too. I was personally super impressed with the Wagyu Martini with burnt lemon oil – Wagyu-washed Renais Gin, Ketel One Vodka, Regal Rogue Lively White and burnt lemon bitters that will certainly put hairs on your chest!
