The Punch Bowl Mayfair Review

Autumnal Sundays are made for a roast dinner, so we visited The Punch Bowl in Mayfair to try their offering – and we weren’t disappointed!

The cosy pub is tucked away in a side street in Mayfair but had a nice atmosphere upon arrival. We were shown upstairs to the main dining room, but they also have a private dining area for larger parties, which would be perfect for a festive get together.

The Sunday Roast menu is traditional, but also had alternative options for those who might not fancy a roast dinner. They also had an extensive wine menu to pair with your food, so we opted for a warming Argentinian Malbec.

To start, we shared the Maldon Native Oysters and the Duck Liver Mousse, served with pickles and toast. Both courses were tasty and not heavy before our main course. For mains, all three of us ordered the Roast Dry Aged Beef Rib and Yorkshire Pudding, which came with beef dripping roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, vegetables, gravy and condiments.

The portion size was generous, and the seasonal ingredients were all fresh and tasty. Whilst I was full from my main course and ordered a Baileys on ice to finish my meal, I tried a mouthful of my friend’s Knickerbocker Glory, which was a light and fruity option to end the meal.

I’d highly recommend their Sunday Roast but for those looking for somewhere to visit with some festive flair, guests to The Punch Bowl can enjoy a three-course festive set menu from £95 pp (for parties of 8 or more), a Christmas Day menu for £120 pp, festive sharing boards from £45 (min order of 3 boards) and a festive afternoon tea at £50 for two.
