American Express presents British Summer Time July 1st 2023 Review.

You know it’s officially British Summer Time when Hyde Park hosts the popular ‘American Express presents British Summer Time’ concerts.

Onin.London attended Saturday 1st July 2023 to see Take That headline and from start to finish… the day did not disappoint.

Take That, the famous English pop group formed in Manchester in 1990 consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. We love that despite band member changes, the band has contributed to grow from strength to strength.

Before Take That to the stage, their supporting acts kept the crowds entertained throughout the day. We would recommend attending BST early as to not miss out on getting a premium viewing spot. We especially loved The Script, Sugar Babes and even the surprise appearance from Will Young.

The Script had the crowd fired up throughout their set up, but had a few of us in tears as they played an emotional tribute to their guitarist who they lost this last year.

But the roar when Take That took to the stage showed us who everyone had come there to see!

Take That played all the hits including “How deep is your love?”, “Patience”, “Shine” “Want You Back For Good” and Relight My Fire with guest performer Lulu.

Callum Scott even joined them during “Greatest Day” before serenading the crowd with  his Britain’s Got Talent Audition song – Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own”..

The set finished off with the band lighting up the sky with fireworks.

American Express presents British Summer Time was an absolute blast but it’s not all about the music. Food wise, there’s plenty of options to keep everyone happy…so not only does BST Hyde Park bring the music foods, it was also a mini food festival! Our recommendation though is don’t miss out on Bun Boy. They’re serving Korean style street food and it is delicious. Our mouths are drooling just thinking about it.

While this wasn’t my first time at British Summer Time, it for sure won’t be the last.

British Summer Time is a great day out whether you’re general admission or VIP… we would recommend  you spend the extra money if you love the acts playing on stage. as VIP is where it’s at!
