AMERICAN EXPRESS RETURNS TO WIMBLEDON TO GIVE TENNIS FANS UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES

American Express, Official Payment Partner of The Championships, today announced its plans to welcome tennis fans in July. The partnership with Wimbledon will bring a host of experiences to help fans get even more from the tennis they love.

The popular American Express Fan Experience, located in the Southern Village, returns bigger and better this year to help all tennis fans get more out of their time at Wimbledon. Sir Andy Murray OBE, two-time Wimbledon Champion and American Express Ambassador features in three interactive games within the Fan Experience. New for 2023, fans can play ‘Race to Wimbledon’, an interactive game that has been developed on Fortnite Creative, where players race past London landmarks, through Wimbledon village and onto the iconic Wimbledon Grounds in a quest to arrive at Centre Court in the fastest time possible.

Also returning is the American Express® Cardmember Lounge where Cardmembers and up to two guests can relax in an idyllic setting with private outdoor terrace access. This year the lounge also boasts an all-new Ralph Lauren merchandise personalisation station.

Throughout the Grounds Cardmembers will be able to pick up complimentary in-ear radios featuring a live broadcast of Centre Court, No.1 Court and the Wimbledon Radio Channel1. Cardmembers will also have the opportunity to receive a one-time statement credit of £20 when they cumulatively spend £120 or more onsite on their eligible American Express® Card throughout The Championships.2 If you can’t attend Wimbledon, Cardmembers can also enjoy an exclusive 20% discount at The Official Wimbledon Online Shop from the week before all the way to the week after The Championship (Monday 26 June to Sunday 23 July 2023). 3

To further support the partnership, American Express will be launching a new above-the-line and social media campaign, that builds on its Member When creative platform – encapsulating how fans can “Feel it, taste it, see it #WithAmex”. This will include an out-of-home takeover at Wimbledon and Southfield stations, and on public transport along fans’ route to SW19.

Aaron Burke, Vice President, Global Brand Partnerships & Experiences at American Express said: “We’re thrilled to be back at The Championships this year and to continue our partnership with Wimbledon. From the return of our popular Cardmember Lounge, with its incredible view over the Grounds, the Amex Fan Experience, which is full of exciting ways to make more of your day at Wimbledon, and the other benefits and experiences we have for tennis fans onsite at SW19 and beyond the Grounds, our Wimbledon partnership remains a great example of our commitment to making tennis even better with Amex.”

Sir Andy Murray OBE, added: “I’ve had some of my biggest and best tennis experiences at Wimbledon, so I’m excited to be working alongside American Express once again to help tennis fans make their own memories. I pop up in all three of the interactive games that can be found in the American Express Fan Experience, so pay a visit and see if you can beat my score!”

Getting more from Wimbledon with Amex in 2023, highlights include:

AMERICAN EXPRESS FAN EXPERIENCE

The physical American Express Fan Experience returns bigger and better for 2023, to help visitors get more from their time at Wimbledon and will incorporate:

Fortnite: Race to Wimbledon

There’s a brand-new speed challenge created on Fortnite4, available for fans to play in game stations located within the Fan Experience; ‘Race to Wimbledon’ and off-site at wimbledon.com/racetowimbledon: where players race past London landmarks, through Wimbledon village and onto the iconic Wimbledon Grounds in a quest to arrive at Centre Court in the fastest time possible.

Find Andy & Centre Court Challenge

Enhanced from last year, there’s the popular “Find Andy” game which challenges fans’ attention-to-detail as they try to find Andy Murray in amongst a giant artwork of the Grounds. Fans can also test their accuracy under pressure with the “Centre Court Challenge”, where two to four competing fans are challenged to roll physical tennis balls as accurately as possible to hit an on-screen target. The more accurate the roll, the more points you score.
