Bar + Block Steakhouse Review

It can always be so hard trying to find a restaurant that serves incredible steak, because let’s face it, there are so many establishments that claim to cook steak that even the Argentinians would be proud of. So when I came across Bar + Block Steakhouse in Kings cross, I had butterflies and nerves, would it be as good as they were claiming?

To start off, of course we had to choose the Beef Empanadas, I must admit my eyes lit up when I saw it on the menu, the beef was lightly spiced and cooked well, and the fresh tomato salsa complemented it nicely, certainly a winning starter in my books.

For the main I had the 8oz filet steak, all of their steaks are aged for a minimum of 28 days and handcut. The steak was tender and lean and seasoned nicely. It comes with a choice of salad or chips, I choose the sweet potato fries instead and the roasted winter veg, honey glazed, which was to die for!

Meat lovers, you must opt for the choice my guest had, which was the mixed grill, firstly the portion is massive so make sure you have enough room for it and secondly, my goodness I had food envy, it looked like a meat feast, fit for a King. It came with a slow cooked beef rib, chargrilled steak, slow cooked brisket, bacon, corn on the cob, chips and spicy beans (and breath) yes I can report that it was an incredible dish, bursting with flavour and different textures of meat, the brisket being her favourite.

For desert, we went for the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, sweet tooth lovers, you will be in heaven eating this, it was sweet and Moorish and I would have easily asked for seconds if my stomach would allow a couple more spoonfuls!

The interiors is gorgeous, it gives off a very cool impression, from the minute you walk in with it’s moody lighting, wood clad walls and dark interiors. We were well looked after by our waiter, he was friendly and very prompt with bringing over our dishes, his recommendations went down a treat.
