Bodega Luigi Bosca Review

Onin.London will soon be providing all our lovely readers with a must have BBQ Guide. But to wet your appetites on the sort of things you can expect to see, we had to share with you some of the perfect Argentinian Malbec’s that will take your BBQ to the next level.

Argentinians are known for their BBQ and the asado has over 400 years of history. A traditional asado uses beef which is why the country has become synonymous with good steak, paired with delicious red wine; however these Malbecs are also good with lamb, pork and vegetarian dishes. Argentina’s leading winery and one of its most prolific Malbec producers, Bodega Luigi Bosca was founded 120 years ago by the Arizu family. This hidden gem in the beautiful region of Mendoza was one of the first to start planting vines in the area – now known as the home of Malbec – and it has remained at the forefront of winemaking in the country ever since. Indeed it pioneered the foundation of Argentina’s first DOC -Lujan de Cuyo – and was the first wineries to start producing under this DOC.

The Malbecs in the range include:

Luigi Bosca Malbec D.O.C Single Vineyard 2017

Luigi Bosca · Malbec D.O.C was one of the first Argentine wines with a D.O.C and as such seeks the ultimate expression of the terroir. A deep and bright red violet wine with balanced aromas and red fruit and sweet spice notes. It is refreshing and voluptuous in the mouth, with fine and gentle tannins, while it is clean and expressive in the palate, with a strong character, typicity and a deep finish with soft smoked hues as a result of its ageing in oak barrels. It is a great exponent of the variety and the terroir, with good ageing potential.

We were sent a bottle of a Luigi Bosca Malbec Seleccion de Vistalba 2018 to review and couldn’t have been more impressed. The wine was clean and very easy to drink. Especially served with the Surf and Turf steak I made for my friend and I. It was a wine that was easy to savour over the meal and afterwards whilst we made future plans for trips as soon as we can travel more freely. So what are you waiting for… Get your Malbec fix now.
