Boteco Brasil Soho

Boteco 1

My World Cup coverage led me to Soho and to Boteco’s new event in the heart of Soho. To call this a Brazilian themed event would be understating it. They have created an entirely authentic experience of the real Brazil over their two floors.

Art from a collective of Brazilian artists covers the walls, which ranges from black and white photographs of Brazil, to huge wire sculptures of animals. There are comfortable sofa chairs and tables throughout both floors to offer everyone a comfortable view of the large screens. They are marketing this event as an alternative to the overcrowded pubs.

Tickets cost £40 or £60 to watch both games and attend the after party. The ticket includes 1 complimentary drink, and I would recommend trying their caipirinha, which is made perfectly by their bar staff. I tried a strawberry caipirinha, which was wonderful. After you’ve had you complimentary drink, bottles of beer cost £5 and caipirinhas cost £7. So this is pretty expensive if you’re staying for 2 matches but it is tailored as a very high end experience.

The authentic Brazilian food is free-flowing and delicious. I spoke to the chef about their offering and he was clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about his craft. I particularly enjoyed the doughy cheese balls and we tried their blend of 20 chillies, which nearly dissolved our tongues, much to his amusement. Meat is a real passion in Brazil and the chef brought out pork and pineapple covered in crispy bread like casing. The food really does keep coming and I also really enjoyed their Brazilian cous cous. Their full menu can be seen here.

Boteco 2

This event avoids clichés about Brazil and makes you feel like you’re in an actual Brazilian venue. Boteco Brasil Soho offers an alternative to the English pubs, and the food and drink are both delicious. If you’re looking for a high-end, immersive Brazilian experience and don’t mind paying for it, I would recommend heading down to one of their events.

The events run throughout the entire World Cup and the organisers will be offering discounts and offers on many games. Get in touch with them directly to enquire about group bookings and see if they can tailor an offer for you.
