Bounce: The Home of Ping Pong

Bounce Venue

I discovered Bounce, one afternoon as I had a hankering for some table tennis. Bounce is a great venue for those who like table tennis, but don’t take it too seriously.

A nice touch was to get to play on their Olympic table, which was used in London’s Olympics. This table is fitted with cameras and lights, and you’re given the option of recording your game and receiving an edited highlights video. This usually costs £10 but they were kind enough to offer me this for free. The beaming lights burst on and we were filmed for 11 minutes. I’m looking forward to seeing this video, although it may look more like a bloopers reel.

The service was excellent and the waiters were very attentive. I ordered a Raspberry Mule cocktail, which was made from Keel One Vodka, raspberry puree, mint, fresh lime and topped with ginger beer. This was delicious. Your supply of balls is also regularly replenished saving you the trouble of looking for balls.

It is always very busy with tables snapped up as soon as it opens. So book in advance or be prepared for a wait. The place has a fun and vibrant feel, with balls flying everywhere and the bar and restaurant packed. The eclectic variety of people here, ranging from suits to hipsters, makes for an interesting atmosphere.

The bar serves a range of wines, cocktails and beers. Bottles of red wine start from £18 and cocktails around £8. The restaurant has a wide range of pizzas from £12.95. I didn’t eat here but the food looked nice from a distance.

The tables cost £18 per hour (off peak) and £26 (on peak), but they are fantastic, as are the bats. If you’re used to normal table tennis bats, you’ll be amazed at the speed these ones generate.

I had real fun playing this great game in this lively venue. If you are a casual table tennis player and like socialising in fun venues, then do check out Bounce. Have a look on their website.
