Carluccios Richmond Review

I’ve been to a few different Carluccios restaurants in the past and have always enjoyed the food. So I’ll start off by saying, “No exception here!”

My friend and I received a warm welcome and friendly service throughout the evening. The decor and lighting was stylish and helped set a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

The menu was varied, including daily specials options. (Not helpful for someone who finds it difficult to make decisions, but only because everything sounded so delicious!) I chose the burrata as a starter (I’m always a sucker for burrata… if you’ve never tried it, you really must!) and was pleased with the fresh-tasting accompaniment of pea and mint, which made a change from the usual Caprese flavours of tomato and basil that it’s usually served with.

Our wine of choice was a very drinkable red from Sicily, which sparked a fun conversation with our Sicilian waiter. (Italy and wine… two of my favourite subjects… what’s not to love?!)

Our mains were spatchcock poussin (because my theory is to try new things whenever the opportunity presents itself) and a seafood risotto. I often find Italian restaurants offer a very limited dessert selection (think ‘tiramisu’ and ‘gelato’) but Carluccios offered these and a good range of other options besides. And I have to say… all very ‘yum’!

All in all, a lovely revamped venue with delicious food and great service… I would dine here again.
