Cavo Mediterranean Rooftop Restaurant And Bar Opens
Cavo Mediterranean rooftop and bar has launched at The Outernet, in Tottenham Court Road.
Taking the lift to the fourth floor, you step into a space that with its glass windows looks bigger than it is. On one side catch sight of the London Eye, on the other step out onto the rooftop terrace. It was a rainy night when I went, so unfortunately I was unable to enjoy the outdoor terrace. With its timber, blue and grey colour theme and green plants, I’m positive it will be a lovely place to meet with friends and try one of the cocktails or amazing range of wines.
Next proceed though a corridor lined with pot plants and floor to ceiling windows, and enter an L shaped room with views over Tottenham Court Road and surrounds. The vibe as I entered was one of calm.
Cavo has an impressive wine cellar which is in display, drawing on the rich wine making tradition and warm hospitality of the Mediterranean. Cavo boasts that its cocktails use local ingredients and Mediterranean botanicals to create bespoke cocktails designed to awaken the senses and the palate. I had the Tiramisu Martini which Cavo’s version of an expression martini, and really enjoyed sipping this whilst looking at the streets below. This was quickly followed by a Malfi gin cocktail which was bursting with lemon flavours.
Cavo is a celebration of the sea and earth of the Mediterranean. What comes to mind when you think of the Mediterranean? Perhaps it’s olive oil or Amalfi lemon or vessuvio tomatoes? Cavo calls these their ‘hero ingredients’ to showcase fresh seasonal vegetables, sensational meats and seafood, and fresh herbs. The salted cod mouse on crispy sourdough was excellent.
Serving brunch, lunch, dinner, pre theatre menus and their signature seafood, Cavo offers all day dining inspired by the islands and coasts of the Mediterranean. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Friday 11am-1am, and Saturdays 10am-1am. The rooftop garden is open Tuesday to Friday 11am-9pm and 10am to 9pm on Saturdays.
