Community initiatives and support for the NHS from Carnaby and Soho

With the NHS in the forefront of our minds during the current crisis, Carnaby and Soho have grouped together to offer their support to these vital services, with a range of initiatives running through their outlets.

You might have already seen the #FeedNHS campaign which was launched by LEON in partnership with Helen McCrory, Matt Lucas and Damian Lewis to raise vital funds to provide food directly to NHS teams. Working alongside Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and UCLH Healthcare NHS Trust, their aim is to provide 6,000 meals a day to London hospitals. This ambitious campaign has now also been joined by Carnaby restaurants Dishoom, Pizza Pilgrims and Rosa’s Thai Café, raising almost one million pounds as of Thursday 9 April.

In addition to this, LEON have served nearly 14,000 takeaway and delivery meals to NHS workers alone as well as providing 50% discount for NHS staff at their shops and on deliveries via UberEats. They’ve also extended their kind deeds past the NHS, donating to food banks and delivering food to London based charity The Felix Project to help bring nutritious meals to schools and charities. Soho restaurant Bone Daddies have also been actively supporting The Felix Project and have recently donated a large amount of their surplus food to them. Shortly before they stopped trading, Le Bab donated their leftover produce to hospital teams and local homeless shelters, as well as offering free meals to key workers who didn’t have the option to work from home. Vegi favourite Mildreds have been delivering 400 of their well-balanced meals to London hospitals each week and raised over £5,000 to support the good cause. Specialist wine shop Antidote is offering their support by donating 20% of all gift vouchers sold to NHS Charities Together, whose job It is to champion the work of the NHS official charities

It’s not just the food and drink outlets who are showing the love, Scandinavian fashion brand Samsøe Samsøe have collaborated with the Danish Red Cross to fundraise towards charity’s relief efforts and emergency services in Denmark and other countries, with the proceeds going towards securing medical equipment for healthcare professionals, handing out vital hygiene packages and basic emergency care.  Luxury skincare brand Aesop have been donating a number of its products to hospitals within the UK that are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst M.A.C. have donated a mind-blowing $10,000,000 to over 250 local organisations across the world. Denim brand Diesel is donating 10% of their sales throughout this month of April to non-profit organization OTB Foundation, who act to procure and distribute protection kits for medical and paramedical staff at the forefront of the fight against the virus.

We also love the fact that the Carnaby Ganton Street Bulbs have turned blue in support of the NHS! #Stayhomestaysafe
