Dabber’s Comedy Caller Bingo Winner Announced

If you haven’t visited Dabbers Bingo in Aldgate yet, it’s definitely worth checking it out. This purpose-built, brightly coloured event space boasts rum cocktails, tapas and more traditional comfort foods like burgers and hotdogs. It’s certainly not your grandmother’s bingo hall – you can expect a combination of bingo, cabaret, drag, comedy, magic and DJing. Whether you come for an afternoon brunch or in the evening, the vibes are very much that of a club. Don’t be surprised if there’s dancing involved!

Earlier this week, Dabbers hosted the finals to choose the next comedy caller for the coming 12 months. The finalists were: Kirsty Lucas, a recent drama school graduate; Shruti Sharma, a standup with commendable dance moves; Esther Cross, a cabaret performer with a penchant for cheese puns; Eric Meat, comedian Ali Brice’s alter ego and Fabio Lezonli, a drag performer with a talent for magic.

Eric Meat was awarded the audience vote, which means he is the 2025 Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller. Comedian Ali Brice’s alter ego is an Edinburgh Fringe regular and at the finals, he wowed the audience with great crowd engagement, comedic timing, Bingo lingo and of course a whole range of ‘meat’ puns. His act was well-prepared and appreciated by the audience, including the very quirky prize of a leg of lamb for the full house winner for his hosted round of bingo (let’s hope the winner wasn’t a vegetarian).

The judges vote went to Esther Cross whose singing, dancing and energy made for a fun evening. Her cheese puns were great and she even had a handmade Babybel hat for the winner of her round, a true commitment to the bit.

Sisika, the overall host for the night, added to the flair of the evening with her frequent outfit changes and hosting of the final musical round which had everyone up and dancing.
