Get Ready To Step Into the Jazz Age With The Great Gatsby Afternoon Tea at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane
If ever there was an afternoon tea that could make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into the pages of Fitzgerald’s world, it’s The Great Gatsby themed Afternoon Tea at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane. I’ve had the pleasure of dining and staying here on a few occasions and the afternoon tea really rivals no other! The Sheraton Grand’s newest offering proves that this isn’t just another afternoon tea… it’s filled with theatre, glamour, and pure 1920s decadence served on a silver tier.
The afternoon tea is set in the hotel’s original 1920s Palm Court—a Grade II-listed masterpiece of Art Deco elegance and the experience begins the moment you walk in. The glint of marble, the golden glow of chandeliers, and the soft hum of jazz make you feel like Jay and Daisy could stroll in at any moment.
The menu is a clever and delicious nod to Gatsby’s characters and settings. Savoury highlights like the Rockefeller Smoked Salmon Tart and East Egg Truffle Salad are as refined as they sound, while the Gatsby Club layers roast chicken and pancetta in a way that makes you understand why Gatsby’s parties were always full. I ate the vegan/vegetarian version as I’m currently pregnant so couldn’t eat a few of the main highlights of the menu but other guests looked to be through enjoying themselves with all the options available.
The sweets are true showstoppers: the Lemon & Jazz-mine Meringue Pie sings with citrus, Daisy’s Tropical Choux is as bright and charming as its namesake, and the gold-dusted Roaring Opera could be the very dessert served in Gatsby’s grand dining room. Warm scones with clotted cream and preserves round off the feast—though a glass of Champagne feels like the proper Gatsby way to toast the occasion. I definitely had fomo not being able to drink champagne but the non-alcohol cocktail Daisy’s Delight (a sparkling floral concoction) was just as glamorous.
The timing couldn’t be better—paired with The Great Gatsby: A New Musical at the London Coliseum (running until 7 September 2025), this afternoon tea is the perfect prelude or finale to a night at the theatre. With the hotel just 20 minutes’ walk from the venue and steps from Green Park station, the experience flows seamlessly from Mayfair elegance to West End magic.
Speaking of The Great Gasby musical… it was amazing!! Definitely one not to miss! My thoughts on Daisy though remain the same… she didn’t deserve Gatsby’s love.
Thank you Sheraton Grand London Park Lane for an unforgettable evening. So whether you’re a theatre lover, a Gatsby devotee, or simply in search of one of London’s most memorable afternoon teas, this is a dazzling slice of 1920s escapism. It’s indulgence. It’s storytelling. It’s Gatsby… only tea.
