Jimmy Garcia’s The Lodge On The River Review

Created by the king of pop-ups, Jimmy Garcia, The Lodge On The River will be the ultimate  retreat this winter. We visited for the launch of the venue on the 9th of November and we couldn’t have been more impressed. The Lodge opened on the 10th November 2017, Jimmy’s Lodge will be open until the 31st December 2017. They will be an indulgent fondue menu from ‘The Refuge’ in the first-floor restaurant, as well as in the private-dining ‘Snow Globes’ where minimum spend will be £600 for 10 people. Also the Winter Grill will allow guests to take food with them as they stroll along the River Thames.

Downstairs in the Winter Grill, we got to try the miniature of versions of the grab and go dishes and these were delicious. We tried the Raclette Burger and the Wild Boar and Apple Hot Dogs. They were super great and I can’t wait to wander down to South Bank and get some to take away next time I’m in the area, We didn’t get to try the ‘Aspen Fries’ topped with Parmesan and Truffle oil but you can bet we’re going back there to get our fill of them.

Finally we were taken upstairs to ‘The Refuge’ and were blown away by the décor and how intimate the venue is. Ticket costs only £40 per person and consists of starters of a three course meal. We were very impressed with the Mulled Wine Cured Gravalax Salmon, Game Terrine on Brioche Toast and Smoked Goat’s Curd starters to share. Our mains of traditional Alpine Fondue served with a selection of Artisan Charcuterie, New Potatoes, bread and salad were any cheese lover’s dream and we couldn’t stop eating it. To finish we were also treated to Spiced Crème Brule. It was perfection. Overall the fresh food is full of unique flavours and we just loved it.

Also check out the The Lodge On The River is the inclusion of the super cute ‘Snow Globes’. There are four gorgeous private dining domes available to book and as already mentioned they hold up to 10 people per dome. Minimum spend is £600 but this includes food and drinks. The Snow Globes will be serving a set menu that features a trio of canapés followed by traditional Alpine fondue as well as the option of Côte de Boeuf to share, with charred broccoli, salted almonds and chili butter. At the launch we were also got to try the Côte de Boeuf, a little rare for my liking but after being cooked a little extra in the fondue… it was lovely.

The location is absolutely stunning and Jimmy really couldn’t have chosen a better spot. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the heated riverside Alpine Bar sponsored by Grey Goose and can’t wait to go back and try some of the delicious sounding winter cocktails such as the Hot Winter Mojito. If hot beverages aren’t your thing, there’s also the insanely popular Grey Goose Le Fizz!

As with all of Jimmy’s Popups, The Lodge On The River will sell out fast. So hurry up and book now by visiting the website or email [email protected]
