Le Bun Social – The Three Compasses Dalston Pop-Up
Based now in trendy Dalston, and situated in the coolest, friendliest pub, Le Bun, bring their passion for serving unpretentious classic French dishes with an American spin to The Three Compasses this winter.
Walking into the pub was a delight last Thursday, as it was packed to the brim with uber cool arty types and I felt quite at home. As we slipped into the back of the pub we noticed the huge Le Bun signs and a DJ situated in the corner; we knew we were in for a great night!
We opted for a tasting menu as it was the launch night and out came a platter of the most drool worthy food we had seen. Le Bun served all of their signature dishes that include Le Bourguignon Bun, Le Duck Frites Bun and National Burger Day one-off Le Royale With Cheese alongside Le Fried Chicken Caesar and Bruleed New York Cheesecake.
When we tell you it was amazing I really mean it was amazing. The Le Duck Frites Bun was bar far my favourite, the duck was cooked to perfection and the bun literally melted around it. Coming a close second was the hot dog, oh my days the hot dog. Just try it! You’ll see why words can’t even describe how pleasing it was. Instead of using traditional beef patties in their burgers Le Bun use great quality shredded meat, it made for a burger experience that will keep you going back for more.
Le Bun at Three Compasses Pub in Dalston is a must so make sure you get yourself down there. The guys gave us the low down on their latest venture:
“The menu us constantly innovating. In addition to the daily menu will be ‘Taco Tuesdays’ whereby regulars can enjoy hickory short rib tacos, red wine chipotle sauce and fried fish tacos, bisque butter and chipotle dust washed down with Tequila slushies. Wednesdays will be the classic ‘Steak Frites’ night serving seared hangar steaks, red wine jus, frites with Béarnaise sauce and ‘Red Wine Roulette’ will come into play, choose either red/even or black/odd numbers, spin the wheel and win from a selection of 3 good/great/top-notch bottles of red wine”
See!? You just can’t pass this up!
The Three Compasses pub specialises in choice craft beers including Kernal, Pressure Drop’s Pale Fire, Portobello Pilsner and Five Points Pale. Kamm & Son’s British aperitif cocktails and weekend ‘house party’ DJ sessions will ensure a great addition to the Dalston scene.
The collaboration between Three Compasses and Le Bun is a total win:win.
Enjoy and say ONIN sent you.
