London Bridge City launches Christmas by the river

The festive holiday season is around the corner, but seeing mince pies and Christmas puds on shop shelves as early as September is enough to drain away the anticipation and excitement making you all ‘bah humbug’ when the season eventually arrives.

One salvation is Christmas markets which hold onto the European tradition of starting in the last week of November. Pop-ups a plenty as we countdown to the festive season will have you feeling merry again. One date to note on your calendar is 26th November when London Bridge City launches their enchanting alpine themed Christmas market, set along the Thames with a backdrop of London’s most iconic landmarks; it’s enough to melt any frosty temperament.

Whatever the season, the riverside is always an attraction for its atmospheric vibe and tranquillity alike. However picture strolling along the river frontage from the Pier towards Tower Bridge illuminated by a backdrop of the twinkling cityscape reflecting off the river, path lined with vintage style wooden alpine huts and boutique market stalls selling festive crafts, artisan wares and a global array of delicious food and drinks. A beautifully  illuminated Led Christmas tree is the finishing touch to transport you to this picturesque winter wonderland.

You’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from trying to capture the perfect insta moment, but a short stroll to the amazing outdoor amphitheatre The Scoop, and you’ll be transported to an après ski themed bar where you can cosy up and stave off the river breeze sipping on classic winter cheer restorative warmers (mulled wine and hot toddy anyone?).

If you feel inspired by all the craft stalls and want to add some personalisation to your Christmas gifting this year? At The Pier’s free pop-up winter workshops, visitors will be able to try their hand at a range of arts and crafts from Christmas wreath making to Christmas jumper decorating in support of Save the Children.

Live music and an enchanting alpine festive atmosphere, this will be an unmissable family friendly yuletide experience ….all without the need for your passport.
