LONDON’S PEACEFUL HAVEN JUREMA TERRACE OPENS FOR SUMMER

The five-star, boutique hotel’s beautiful, foliage-lined terrace opens to celebrate sunny days and balmy nights

The Mandrake, Fitzrovia’s multi-award-winning, luxury lifestyle property, is opening Jurema Summer Terrace, offering a sensual oasis of serenity in the middle of the city. The space, famed for its beautiful hanging garden of suspended jasmine and passionflower, will launch with a brand-new summer botanic installation, designed by floral artist Hamish Powell.

Open to the public from Friday 26th May, the stunningly decorated space will be serving up summer ethnobotanical cocktails and South American-inspired modern European small plates from YOPO restaurant.Located on the first-floor terrace, Jurema is framed with stunning foliage and flanked with plush, comfortable seating, boasting an open roof for sunbathing and stargazing. Overlooking the Courtyard’s soaring Tasmanian Ferns, Jurema’s open-air bar is unlike any other in London.

Guests can indulge on a range of small and sharing plates including YOPO’s famous Portland Crab, Gala Apple, and Caviar Brioche, as well as Salt Cod Croqueta, Piquillo & Chilli Aioli and Garlic Jamon Iberico & Salted Butter Crispbread. Guests visiting for lunch and dinner have an extensive menu of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes to choose from. Including, Grilled Octopus, Potato & Hot Smoked Paprika, Grilled Prawns, Garlic, Ginger & Ají Amarillo and Burrata, Sikil Pak & Grilled Green Beans.

To wet the palette, Jurema’s expert team of mixologist will be shaking up some of the hottest summer cocktails. Options include the famous Mangosteen, a blend of mangosteen & hibiscus infused Patrón Silver Tequila with chipotle agave, jalapeño vinegar, grapefruit soda & chilli. Alternatively, the Citrine is a fresh and fruity blend of ginger & rosemary-infused Bombay Sapphire Gin, orange liquor, mastic roots liquor & lemon juice.

The focal point of the summer terrace is the brand-new vegetal installation, designed by international multidisciplinary floral artist Hamish Powell. The stunningly imaginative arrangement, designed especially for the reopening of Jurema, will remain at the hotel for the whole opening weekend, coinciding with the beginning of Chelsea Flower Show. Jurema has previously won Best Outdoor Space at the Global AHEAD Awards in 2019 and is a standout example of design excellence.

Powell was invited to collaborate by The Mandrake’s Creative Director and lead of the Artist In Residence Series, Maguelone Marcenac. Based in East London, Powell’s work is inspired by botanical science forms met with art and fashion. Choreographing floral creations for galleries, fashion shows and events across the world, Hamish is a man of many talents including a vocation for poetry. The foundation of his work is to radically reawaken the lost connection to nature, which parallels beautifully with Jurema’s deeply spiritual and emotive attitude.

Jurema’s summer terrace will be open for walk-ins and reservations. The terrace makes the perfect party destination and is available for private hire and bookings. Ideal for standing drinks receptions, larger groups can hire the full terrace for up 120 guests, whilst smaller groups can hire the terrace for up to 30 guests. Those seeking a more intimate event can book a private table seating up to 20 guests.
