Manhattan Bar And Grill Review

A couple of Fridays ago, a friend and I had the pleasure of visiting Manhattan Bar and Grill for a very enjoyable evening of steak, steak and more steak! The restaurant prides itself on their steaks and as a way of introducing diners to the best… they’ve created a sharing board of five of their best premium cuts of steak.

Diners must book a table of four and purchase the Sharing Board which is priced at £35.00 per person. This is amazing value when you receive four mini starters each, five steaks between four people, two sides each and four mini desserts each. Really good value for the amount of food you get!

Our starters consisted of a mini selection of Grilled Romaine Lettuce, Scallops, Prawns and Pressed Beef. Each bite of the mini starters was a delight. They were the perfect size given our mains consisted of five steaks! Yes we got to enjoy 23oz of steaks between the two of us… instead of having to share with two other friends. Not an easy feat but we managed.

It is unusual when visiting a steak restaurant that the chef will be happy to cook your steak, the way you want. While we were convinced to try our fillet steaks medium, our other steaks were cooked medium well. All steaks were cooked to perfection and delicious. My friend thought he was in heaven and even started singing ‘heaven must be missing an angel’ during our meal. It really goes to show how much we enjoyed the food.

Along with our delicious meal, there was the option of a tasting flight of red wine for an extra £12.50. You receive five 50ml glasses of red wine sourced from across the world from Spain to Argentina which are perfectly paired to complement the five steaks. We loved the Merlot and the Rioja. As both of us aren’t big red wine drinkers, it was the perfect opportunity to try wine we wouldn’t have normally ordered and see what we’ve been missing out on.

Our final course for the evening was four mini desserts, sticky toffee pudding, eton mess, key lime pie and chocolate brownies. It was a challenge to fit all this in but we tried our best. My friend and I had a mixed response of what was our favourite dessert. Mine was the eton mess and sticky toffee pudding. My friends was the key lime pie and eton mess. We both did find the chocolate brownie a tad too rich.

After our extremely enjoyable meal, we visited Manhattan Bar and Grill’s G&Tea Lounge. There is an extremely impressive list of gins from around the world. Probably the largest collections of gins I’ve seen in a bar in London. Staff are quite knowledgeable about the gin on offer and quite happy to take you through a pre-booked tasting experience. I definitely could have spent all evening trying every gin on offer. It’s definitely a place I’ll be revisiting in the near future.

We left the restaurant with our bellies full and both vowing to come back with our other friends and families. It was fun evening which was made better by the knowledgeable and polite staff. They were on point from start to finish. It was also nice to see the same level of service was offered to all guests dining and drinking in the venue. So if you’re looking for fabulous steak… make your way down to Canary Wharf now for an evening that is going to leave you in best food coma ever!
