Juju’s Bar And Stage Review
Juju’s Bar and Stage was a joy of a place to find just hidden of the busy Bricklane, not far from Old Truman Brewery. We hadn’t heard of Juju’s before attending the launch of their new Mezcal menu, but we will be back!
The Mezcal launch was celebrated on May 4th in conjunction with Cinqo De Mayo and Juju’s sure showed us a great time. We celebrated with the sights and sounds of Mexico with Barrio Latino, an amazing Mariachi band who provided a multisensory night of music, video projections and photography. DJ Sergio Falomi also had party goers bopping along to the music throughout the night.
Why Mezcal? Well Mezcal is the lesser known cousin of tequila, but it is becoming more popular with the introduction of Tequila and Mezcal Fests in London. Juju’s Bar & Stage decided it was time Mezcal-lovers and beginners the chance to experience a collection of top shelf and world renowned brands. The menu consists of numerous Mezcals with popular choices being Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Alipús Santa Ana Del Rio Mezcal, Bruxo No 1 Mezcal, Quiquiriqui Matatlán Mezcal and Pierde Almas La Puritita Verdá. Masterclasses, ideal for groups of six or more, will be available for those looking to expand your knowledge and are priced at only £20.00 per person. Sounds like an enjoyable night out.
Along with the extensive Mezcal menu, we enjoyed a range of Mezcal cocktails which definitely knocked our socks off.
Juju’s Director, Juliet says “The creativity of this menu comes from the talented team we have here at Juju’s. They’ve put so much thought into every drink, from highlighting the best seasonal ingredients to the careful consideration of the history of Mezcal. We took great effort to preserve the classics while coming up with some superb cocktails that reflect modern flavor profiles and trends for our guests. All this combined, we feel like we’ve created a fresh evolution of Mezcal and I hope we introduce lots of our guests to their new favourite drink!”
We certainly loved the Mayan Magic, the Last Word and the Agave Sunshine – so start with these tasty drinks before tempting your taste buds with the rest of the menu.
While the Mezcal cocktails and the music definitley kept the the party happening at Juju’s, a trip here wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t mention the food. Nachos, Guac and Tacos were supplied to our tables and we were in heaven. The Fish Tacos are not to be missed though – these are a pure indulgence.
