Metal Morphosis Review

From mobile van to flagship store.

London isn’t just for Big Ben or Buckingham Palace, it is a place for expression. One form of expressing yourself is in the form of piercings and to get the best experience, you need to go to a leader of this field. Metal Morphosis is that leader, they have been piercing people ears, nose and tongues since the 90’s.

Starting in Soho 30 years ago – they have always supported the LGBT community, piercing at every super cool music festival in the 90s via the first mobile piercing service then becoming the most successful concession in Top Shop until given 48hrs to vacate by Philip Green. They then moved back home to Soho after COVID.

Ben the current owner and 3rd generation at Metal Morphosis wants to now focus the brand and this is why May 2024 they will be opening their flagship store in Convent Garden. Here they aim for this to be an experience rather then just an appointment.

Ben has rebranded with the vibrant pink MM lighting bolt, making it appealing to everyone of all sex and genders. It will be feature throughout the 3 stores.

That’s a brief history of Metal Morphosis but how was the service. It was professional and friendly. I was early for once to an appointment. There before the shop in Carnaby Street was even open but I was welcomed to the store by Smash (one of the piecers), they were full of life, warmth and energy. They showed me the consent form which is easy to fill out. We had to have a little joke at this time as for some reason I was getting nervous, as I hadn’t had a piercing for a good few years now and I was planning on getting both nipples done. Smash then passed me over to my piercer of the day Mia, once again professional and friendly. She was  explained the process of getting the nipples pierced, to start they make sure that there is enough area to pierce this is to ensure that the jewelry will hold.  Sadly to me and also a little relief I didn’t have enough area, however, as I was there Mia ask if I wanted else done I asked for her to recommend what I should get done and it was the Helix that she suggested. This will be my first ear piercing. Mia set up up the telescope and the needle in the clean and sterile room, getting a little nervous again but Mia was calm. The piercing itself was quick and with only a little scratch as the needle went through my ear.

After leaving the room you see all the piercing puns written on the stairs ‘you’re a stud’ ‘pierce off’ and ‘h(ear) since 1991’. Make sure you look at the mobile van they have pictured on the wall. Ben himself as a children went to the festivals with his Dad and Grandfather. Above you floating are the lighting bolts.

I was then given a booklet regarding after care and the alcohol spray needed to keep the ear cleaned. For a total of around £100 this included the piercing, jewellery and the spray, it was worth every penny.

Metal Morphosis will help you make I formed decision, and if you don’t know what you want they can even do a service named Ear Curation. They will do a design for the ear with various pieces.

Be part of the many people that have enjoyed Metal Morphosis just as Billy Bobby Brown or Mel B. If they loved it then you will too.

Ben and the team have always been a champion of the rebels, punks, misfits, mavericks, individuals, originals, icons, outcasts and creatives, Metal Morphosis has always been unafraid of self-identity.

Make sure you visit one of their stores either in Hackney, Carnaby Street or the new Flagship store in Convent Garden.

Thank you for making a nervous guy want to have more piercings.
