New Matcha and Lemonade Ranges Drop At Black Sheep Coffee

Black Sheep has launched their spring range, now available in all stores.  Black Sheep 2.0 is bigger and better than ever before.

There’s a fresh wave of matchas, reimagined the Black Sheep way. There’s a brand-new lemonade category, with both classic and matcha options in flavour-packed combos like Lychee, Lavender, Passionfruit, and Peach. That’s not all, as Black Sheep Coffee is bringing back fan-favourite Norwegian Matcha Waffles.

The new drinks range includes:

  • Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte
  • Iced Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte
  • Lychee Lemonade
  • Lychee Matcha Lemonade
  • Lavender Lemonade
  • Lavender Matcha Lemonade
  • Passionfruit Lemonade
  • Passionfruit Matcha Lemonade
  • Peach Lemonade
  • Peach Matcha Lemonade

All sounded delicious and I waited in front of the self-ordering machine for about 5 minutes as I kept changing my mind on what to order. I eventually settled on the  Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte. Opening the lid you could see the light green and foamy drink. It’s made with organic, Japanese ceremonial-grade matcha, oat milk, and a peaches and cream blend. This was delicious and I’d definitely have this again. Given the hot weather we’ve been having, it’s a good thing this also comes in an iced version.

On a 20+ degree day, and needing a break from shopping, I decided to try one of the matcha lemonades. I settled on the Lavender Matcha Lemonade. This is comprised of ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha, lavender syrup, and still lemonade. The syrup was strong and made it too sweet for my personal taste. The lemonade is flat but it was refreshing.

Following the success of fan-favourite Norwegian Waffles, comes the Matcha Waffle, Black Sheep Coffee’s signature Norwegian waffle dough is blended with Perfect Ted’s organic, ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha. You can choose to have it plain or build your own – with a variety of classic toppings, including whipped cream, Nutella, fresh fruit and more. To really get a sense of the matcha waffle, I decided to have it plain. The crispness of the waffle made it a satisfying treat.

In exciting news, all existing Black Sheep Coffee waffle flavour combinations will now have a ‘choose your base’ option, allowing guests to pick between the traditional waffle dough or the all-new matcha dough.

In addition, I also had a ‘build your own’ acai bowl. I chose blueberries, strawberries, peanut butter and biscoff crumbs. The result was a refreshing blend of antioxidant-rich, organic, frozen Açaí topped with crunchy honey nut granola with fresh fruit. It was perfect for the 20+ weather we’ve been having lately, and a great light bite.

Later, I found out the day I’d had some of matcha treatswas actually World Matcha Day. This day marks the traditional beginning of the tea harvest season in Japan. So happy belated World Matcha Day everyone!
