New Restaurant Opening: Dickie Fitz

About a 10 minute walk from Great Portland Street Station is the new Australasian restaurant, Dickie Fitz. Being an Aussie in London, I was excited to attend the launch part of a restaurant which promises to bring the ‘Down Under to Fitzrovia’. The venue for Dickie Fitz is gorgeous, two floors with enough space for 100 people, Dickie Fitz is designed for all-day dining. The venue can cater for both formal and private dining parties.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner showcase Sydney-born Executive Chef Matt Robinson creations which are inspired by the fresh flavours and ingredients of the Pacific. At the launch party, I got to taste some of the food available at Dickie Fitz, including the ‘Truffle Macancini’, ‘Tuna Tataki, Avocodo Panzu’ and the ‘Lemon Meringue Pie’. These were all delicious! I never would have believed Truffles and Mac and Cheese would be amazing together. Unfortunately the ‘Chicken Schnitzel Rolls’ and ‘Mrs Robinson’s Lamingtons’ were snapped up by other party guests for I got to taste these. Luckily they’re on the menu, so I’ll be headed back for lunch in the near future to get my hands on these edible delights.

I was most impressed with the Australasian style cocktails, especially their names. Tim Tam Martini, Goon Bag Caipirinha, Walkabout Collins, Choice Bro, She’ll Be Apples and U Beaut, were definitely some of my favourites.

The bar also has a great selection of Australian, New Zealand and Californian Wine. I would have liked to see a few more Australian Rose’ wines on the menu and hopefully as the restaurant grows more popular this will occur. (Bird in Hand Rose’ is my suggestion for some great Aussie wine). A large selection of Australian Craft Beers and Ciders are also. This will definitely make Aussie beer drinkers happy, as no Australian drinks Foster’s, despite the stereotype.

Whether you’re after breakfast, lunch, dinner or just after work drinks, I’d recommend checking out Dickie Fitz. You’ll definitely enjoy spending time in a classy and beautiful venue with delicious food and drinks on offer.
