Nirvana Kitchen Review

It’s fitting that Nirvana Kitchen is called Nirvana, as we entered a state of enlightenment during our time spent there. Based near Marble Arch, this 5 star restaurant is utter perfection. From friendly staff to delicious wine and the best food I’ve eaten this year. Nirvana certainly pulls out all the stops.

With a pan Asian fusion mix of foods, it really is hard to chose what to eat. Everything on the menu sounds amazing. We finally settled on the Soft Shell Crab Tempura with truffle ponzu and sour mango dip, Scallop Ceviche, Goi Muc (crayfish and crab salad) and Crispy Salted Squid. I haven’t had the opportunity to have Softshell Crab since I moved to the UK and with each bite I ascended. Seriously I’m not overselling this restaurant. The food was unbelievable.

For the main I had the Lobster Curry and if I was a poet, I would write a sonnet dedicated to this dish. It was pure decadence. My friend went with her favourite curray, the Panang Curry. We were pretty quiet while eating our mains so it is safe to say we enjoyed them. The Roti Canai, a malasian parantha (basically a puff pastry nan bread) was fantastic. An absolutely fabulous accompaniment for our curries.

If we thought our starters were delicious, our desserts were the cherry on top. Make sure you try the Mochi Balls, a rice covered ice cream ball served with two lychee sake shots. The salt and caramel Mochi Ball was to die for but it was the mango flavoured one that was my favourite. Seriously the best and most unusual desert I’ve had all year. My friends Chocolate Fondant was just as delicious and I did not feel guilty at all about helping her finish it. The creamy pistachio ice cream it was paired with was a welcome  change to the normal vanilla ice-cream that is paired with this dish.

Following dinner, we ventured into the bar where we met Daniel Popa, bar host extraordinaire. He entertained us while we sat at the bar and enjoyed his delicious cocktail creations. Cosmopolitans, Long Island Iced Teas and Gin and Tonics. Nirvana Kitchen has a pretty extensive gin, vodka and whisky collection. It’s really quite impressive.

I could go on and on about how much we loved Nirvana Kitchen. So go on, treat yourself and take a journey on the ‘Pan Asian Odyssey’.
