Nômade Temple Madrid opens on Gran Vía as a cultural sanctuary, reimagining a new form of urban hospitality in Europe

Nômade is delighted to announce the opening of its first Spain-based hotel: Nômade Temple Madrid on Gran Vía in Madrid’s historic Las Letras district — marking the revitalisation of a landmark building in the heart of the city. Conceived as a cultural sanctuary and social refuge, the Temple arrives not as a finished destination, but as a living organism in constant evolution: a bohemian retreat intentionally designed to foster meaningful encounters through art, music, and gastronomy.

The Rich History of Nômade Temple Madrid

Located in a historic 20th-century building, the new project introduces a different rhythm into one of Madrid’s most accelerated avenues. Once home to artisan workshops and small businesses, Nômade Temple Madrid now features 93 guest rooms and three standout penthouses.

Designed and curated by the team at Oneness, the architecture preserves structural elements of the original building while introducing a contemporary material language rooted in texture, light and atmosphere. Rather than separating past and present, both coexist — activated through use, movement and time. Guests will find natural hardwood floors throughout the hotel, inspired by the tonal depth of tropical woods in Tulum, while handwoven wool and silk rugs made in artisan workshops across Europe and North Africa are layered throughout the communal spaces. The hotel also features an array of artisanal ceramic finishes and hand-glazed tiles that subtly echo the preserved historic ceramic stairwell of the building.

While staying at Nômade Temple Madrid, guests can expect a range of thoughtfully designed facilities and spaces conceived to foster connection and serve as a stage for emotional awakening.

Wellbeing as The Medicine of the People

The hotel’s transformative on-site spa – The GÖN House of Healing – operates as a counterpoint to the pace of the city, bringing the focus back to the body through water, heat and touch. Rather than following a conventional spa model, it moves as a continuous system of rituals where contemporary therapies and ancestral practices coexist without hierarchy. At the centre of the spa is a thermal circuit, including a hammam, sauna, and cold plunge. Key treatments include the Madrid Aromatic Herb Exfoliation – which draws from locally rooted botanicals to activate circulation and renewal – and Red Light Full Body Therapy (combining infrared exposure and manual techniques to support recovery and physical balance). Fitness enthusiasts can also take advantage of The Gym, available for all guests and spotlighting natural light, tactile finishes, and sleek equipment allowing for both individual training and extended activities.

The Table as a Place of Encounter

On-site culinary experiences weave together influences from Italy, Uruguay, and Madrid, designed to be shared, savored, and remembered. Opening this autumn, fine-dining destination GUGA offers shareable dishes, including the Homemade Sourdough Bread (made with a 40-year-old sourdough starter), Paccheri All’Acqua Pazza (translating to pasta in “crazy water”), and grilled cuts such as Entraña and Lamb Chinchulines. For early risers, Cafe Libre can be found at street level and remains open throughout the day as a space connected to the city. Here, guests can sip on coffee, wine, vermouth and more. Adjacent to it, the breakfast and lounge area transitions into a flexible daytime environment shaped by working sessions, informal meetings and extended stays.

To discover Madrid’s bold nightlife, guests can explore the Rooftop Bar with spectacular views of the city or head to Say No More – the hotel’s secret speakeasy and nightclub featuring red lighting and vinyl creating an electric atmosphere echoing the pulse of Madrid’s culture awaking in the 1980s. Say No More offers decadent comfort dishes and handcrafted cocktails inspired by the glamour of Spanish nightlife.

Culture in Process

At the core of Nômade Temple Madrid is the Monopol – a 300-square-metre community space designed for performances, installations, and activations. The space offers creators, facilitators, and tastemakers a destination to express, collaborate, and share. Its flexibility allows for a fusion of disciplines and a wide variety of creative expressions. Open to both locals and travellers, Monopol acts as an informal space for coworking, meetings, and encounters that happen naturally across the space.

“We are delighted to open our first hotel in Europe. Madrid has long been defined by its ability to generate movement — social, creative, nocturnal – and Nômade Temple Madrid is the perfect fit for this city.” said Miguel Esteve, CEO of Nomade People. “Nomade Temple Madrid operates as a threshold between the bold intensity of the city and a peaceful sanctuary.”
