Onidodo Review

Onidodo, good food and vibes for everyone

Nigerian cuisine, and classy! With a vibe, great music, decor, friendly staff, not the usual diners you’d expect, and I’m already won over, without even tasting the food yet!

We were greeted once arriving in the spacious black and white themed restaurant comfortably seating what appears to be around 20-30 people. It’s a Wednesday evening when I visit and already feel ready to unwind, relax and dig into good food.

Nigerian cuisine is typically quite wholesome, full of great seasoning, sometimes spicy, and most of the time, very filling.

The menu had a range of different meals to enjoy; efo riro, which is a rich vegetable soup, ayamase, which is also known as ofada stew, and jollof rice, probably the dish I’m sure all reading this have definitely heard of or tried!

Of all of these juicy and wholesome dishes, I became the most British diner ever, and ordered a chicken salad! And I don’t regret it. It was full of juicy vegetables, a rich dressing, and a tender delicious chicken thigh.

My dinner date is a big lover of red meat so then went for the braised lamb cutlets with jollof rice and plantain, which looked and tasted divine.

We sipped on some chapman cocktails – this drink always takes me back to nights out and evenings in Lagos – it makes me feel just a little bit closer to home and appreciative of the fact that I don’t have to always fly six hours to have a taste of the motherland.

The owners – Segun and Dare, were so sweet, friendly and accommodating. They are the perfect depiction of what ANY type of customer service should be like in a restaurant setting. Being from a particular country isn’t an excuse for bad customer service.

I can’t wait to come back here and vibe to the good music whilst sipping on delicious cocktails and munching on yummy food. 20 minutes from home, very reasonably priced, freshly made food prepared, and service with beyond a smile.
