Onin.London Returns To The Hyatt Regency!
Returning to Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars for a second overnight stay felt a little like coming home. Having previously fallen in love in October 2023 with the hotel’s unique blend of history, luxury and exceptional hospitality, we were excited to return and see. We knew this would be a different experience as this time I was bringing my 10.5 month old twins but somehow, our second visit was even better than the first.
Perfectly positioned opposite Blackfriars Station in the heart of the City of London, the five-star hotel offers an unbeatable location for exploring some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral and Tate Modern. As we needed step free access, (which you can get from Blackfriars station), we decided to take the scenic walk from London Bridge to really take in the sites.
Through really, whether you’re visiting for business, a romantic getaway or a family city break… it is the ideal base from which to experience London at it’s finest.
As a solo mum of twins, finding luxury accommodation that’s both stylish and practical can be difficult, but Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars manages that effortlessly. From the moment we arrived, we were once again reminded that it’s the little details that make all the difference. Staff were helpful by ensuring doors and lifts were accessible. Especially helpful when you’re pushing a double pram.
The rooms remain spacious and are beautifully designed with every modern comfort you could need. You can’t go wrong with the Hyatt Luxury Mattress, marble bathrooms and amazing climate control (to starve off this London heat we’ve been having) and seamless keyless entry. Two cots were also made available so my babies had somewhere safe to sleep for the night. I said the rooms were spacious and they really were, we didn’t feel cramped at all.
The bathroom was stunning and the bath products felt luxurious! I mean any bathroom with a rain shower with great water pressure is a win in our books.
One of the things we love most about the hotel is how it celebrates its rich heritage. Situated on the former grounds of King Henry VIII’s Bridewell Palace and moments from historic Fleet Street, thoughtful nods to London’s printing and publishing history can be found throughout the property through tasteful artwork and the design. It’s clean, sophisticated without feeling stuffy and luxurious while remaining wonderfully welcoming.
Dining continues to be a highlight of any stay. NYnLON brings the vibrant dining culture of New York to London, serving generous sharing pizzas alongside comforting classics and flavour-packed dishes that are perfect after a day of sightseeing. For a more relaxed experience, City Lounge provides an elegant space to enjoy light bites, drinks or afternoon tea, while Leaf & Cane offers a lively late-night atmosphere complete with bespoke cocktails and entertainment.
We did pop in to Leaf & Cane for a delicious signature mocktail and cocktail before dinner. This bar still remains one of the loveliest hotel bars I’ve been to and the drinks remained as nice as the first time we visited. What’s really cool about it is the venue is located on the historical site of a women’s prison and retains its heritage with nine vaults or ‘cells’ offering semi-private areas for socialising as well as a premium cigar-smoking terrace
Dining with twins is always hit and miss, but staff at NynLon helped entertain the twins while we waited for our food by providing pencils and papers which kept them quiet for a short period.
We had polenta fries for starters and staff were kind enough to ensure mine came with low salt so I could feed the babies. They were a big hit especially the truffle mayonnaise. Main wise we went with the steak and the salmon. I did ask for my steak to come out more well done so I could share with my twins but it came out more medium. Perfectly cooked for me but it did mean my friend had to share her salmon with the twins. There were no complaints though.
Desserts were delicious in the form of a tiramisu and a New York cheesecake. They are huge portions though, so I’d recommend sharing.
What stood out most during our return visit was the consistency of the experience. As I said before, the staff were attentive, provided exceptional service and the thoughtful touches that impressed us during our first stay remained and it was evident they were very much at the heart of Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars. A fruit platter was delivered to the room which was a nice surprise. It’s clear that guest experience is a genuine priority, whether that’s through the helpful concierge service, 24 hour room service or the exclusive Regency Club Lounge for guests booking Club rooms and suites.
There’s something special about returning somewhere and finding that it lives up to your memories. Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars didn’t simply meet our expectations the second time around… it exceeded them. It’s a hotel that manages to feel both indulgent and effortlessly comfortable, making it somewhere you’ll want to return to time and time again.
