Onin.London Stays The Cumberland Hotel

Back in March before flying to Australia to see family, I was fortunate enough to be gifted an overnight stay at The Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch. This Four Star property has over 900 rooms and is located in a very sort after central location.

The Cumberland hotel champions the city’s cultural and music scene, inspired by its rich history of housing music legends. Ensuring a fusion of comfort and quality, the Cumberland is also home to SOUND – a Cafe, Bar and Sports Bar, a 3-in-1 venue and the ultimate spot for live music, sport, food & drink and a buzzing atmosphere, creating the perfect venue for get-togethers and celebrations.

Upon arrival, I got a sense of Déjà vu and realised The Cumberland used to be the former Hard Rock Cafè. Having spent a delightful evening at the former residence I was looking forward to seeing the changes The Cumberland had undertaken and actually getting to spend a night in the gorgeous hotel.

As we were staying in an executive room, we were taken to an exclusive area where we were made to feel like part of the band’s entourage with a personal concierge and exclusive access to Back Stage, including all day refreshments, afternoon tea, pre-party snacks and a selection of drinks. This was a great experience, and we wished we able to spend more time in the room but alas dinner called so we headed on down to Sound for a delightful three course meal. For more details on the meal see: https://onin.london/onin-london-visits-sound-at-the-cumberland-hotel/.

We will say we had just as an enjoyable experience as our writer Dwayne, so I won’t bore you with all the details. Though I will say do not skip the Tomohawk Steak, Corn Ribs, Jumbo Prawns and New York Cheesecake. Cocktails are a must while you’re here too and it’s no surprise when we visited a couple months later to try more of the cocktail menu for my Birthday. Happy Hour also made Sound a must place to visit as it meant double the cocktails for half the price.

The food and drink at Sound really are a celebration of old school Americana and the various photo moments around the hotel offer up the most gram-worthy spots in central London.

Now I’d be amiss to not mention that Sound has live music seven days a week and they even have a popular Bottomless Brunch. It’s no surprise really as the hotel has a rich musical history with high profile guests such as Jimi Hendrix, Lady Gaga and Madonna staying there.

Our stay at The Cumberland was a dream come true so it’s no surprise we visited again in May for Happy Hour to celebrate my birthday. We will definitely be back again – hope to see you there.
