Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin – the perfect base for the Michelin Awards

A stay at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dublin could not have been more perfectly timed or better located. I was in Dublin for the Michelin Awards, which iconically was taking place in the city for the first time. I was looking for a hotel that delivered on every front. From a central setting in the heart of the city to expansive rooms and exceptional dining – Radisson Blu Dublin delivered.

One of the hotel’s greatest strengths is its location. Situated just off Golden Lane, the Radisson Blu Royal places you within easy walking distance of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks. Whether it was grabbing a quick coffee between meetings, slipping out for a light lunch before the evening’s awards festivities, or strolling through the cobbled streets to soak up the city’s atmosphere, everything felt wonderfully accessible. That vibrant energy of Dublin hums around you here, you’re super close to Grafton Street’s shopping, the creative buzz of Temple Bar, and historic sites like Dublin Castle – yet the hotel itself remains a calm, polished retreat – equipped with an on-site spa and concealed swimming pool too.

After a long days and even longer evening out, returning to the hotel felt like a home away from home. My bedroom had beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that showcased impressive views across Dublin’s skyline – a mix of historic rooftops and modern architecture that captures the city’s evolving character. Even on Dublin’s signature drizzly days, there was something atmospheric about it.

The room itself struck a perfect balance between contemporary style and understated comfort. Plush bedding ensured a restful night’s sleep (essential after celebratory evenings that stretch well past midnight), and the seating area provided a cozy corner to unwind. The bathroom was equally impressive – sleek, spacious, and equipped with both a deep soaking tub and a powerful rainfall shower. Thoughtful touches such as high-quality toiletries, soft robes, and ample lighting elevated the experience, and ensured I could bring hand luggage only for a speedy journey.

The following morning, I was able to work from my room with remarkable ease. The desk facilities were spacious and thoughtfully arranged, with excellent lighting and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. Many hotels claim to be business-friendly, but this space genuinely delivered. I was able to comfortably spend several hours catching up on emails and working through tasks without ever feeling cramped or distracted. Even after check out, there was no shortage of working spaces.

Beyond the room itself, the hotel’s amenities further reinforce its appeal. The fitness centre is well-equipped, offering modern cardio machines and weights for guests wanting to maintain their routine while travelling. There’s also a sauna and steam room – ideal for unwinding after a busy day of events or sightseeing. For business travellers or those attending conferences, the Radisson Blu Royal boasts extensive meeting and event spaces, all fitted with contemporary technology and flexible layouts.

However, the standout highlight of my visit was dining at The Dyflin Bar. Located within the hotel, this restaurant beautifully channels Dublin’s character while delivering cuisine that feels both authentic and elevated.

On the miserable weather day there was no better choice than the Irish stew. It was warming, hearty, and deeply comforting. I’ve eaten lots of Irish stew in Dublin and this was one of my top! Tender meat, rich broth, and perfectly cooked vegetables – what’s not to love.

Breakfast at the hotel was equally impressive. The buffet selection was generous, offering everything from fresh pastries and fruit to a full Irish breakfast with all the traditional components. For guests preferring lighter options, there were cereals, yogurts, and freshly brewed coffee to ease into the day.

What truly distinguishes the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dublin is its ability to cater effortlessly to different types of travellers. It works beautifully as a base for luxury leisure stays, as a functional and comfortable business hub, and as an elegant setting for special occasions. The hotel manages to feel both cosmopolitan and distinctly Irish at the same time, a balance that is not always easy to achieve.

Without hesitation, I would 100% stay here again. For anyone visiting Dublin – whether for an international event, a culinary pilgrimage, a business engagement, or simply to explore the rich culture of Ireland’s capital, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel offers a refined yet welcoming home in the very heart of one of Europe’s most prized cultural cities.
