REVIEW: Dotty Dalmatians Afternoon Tea

101 Dalmatians is a Disney classic loved by us all, so when I heard about the Sheraton Grand’s New 101 Dalmatians Afternoon Tea. I reminisced back to Pongo and Perdy and booked myself and a friend a reservation. The reason for the dotty Dalmatians Afternoon Tea is to celebrate the 101 Dalmatian movie 55th anniversary, it certainly brought back good memories of me watching it as a child. And for you furry friend lovers you could book your dog to be walked around the original movie set across the road in Green Park while you enjoy your afternoon tea.

Once seated we were greeted with a tea menu consisting of 27 different Twinning teas to choose from, tea fans out there, you are in for a treat! Especially with the rare and single Estate tea, which included white tea, yellow tea, Oolongs, black tea and 1st Flush Darjeeling. Fancy huh! We opted for the Moroccan mint with rose tea, where they married green tea with spearmint leaves and a subtle taste of rose, it was divine, and very relaxing on the stomach.

Shortly after our teas arrived we were presented with the Dalmatian inspired savoury treats which included smoked trout mousse with English mustard and pickled red onion hotdog, a polka dot macaroon made of confit salmon, crème fraiche and dill, a free range egg mayonnaise and watercress finger sandwich and a short rib and bone marrow hot pot. Of course very different to your traditional afternoon tea sandwiches. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed the bone marrow hot pot which was my favourite, the meat was tender yet filling.

Once we finished, we awaited for the sweet treats and my my what a treat they were to look at! They brought over a birdcage which housed the incredible sweet deserts, featuring scrumptious scones with clotted cream and raspberry a delectable lemon mousse and Oreo biscuit combination to create Perdy’s paw, a blueberry cake and violet cream which was created into Pongo’s dog bowl. And not forgetting Cruella de Vil, she was honoured with a white chocolate cream brownie and a dotty chocolate sponge and raspberry jelly. It was a melt in your mouth experience. My favourite was the dotty chocolate sponge and raspberry jelly, it was light yet bursting with flavour!

We were also very surprised to be told by our lovely waiter that they have a cake stand in the Palm Court for guests to come up and sample cakes if they are still hungry after their afternoon tea. (see below) Our ears certainly pricked up after hearing this, but we were pretty full with our own menu, and in true Dalmatian style, we got a doggy bag and took some bits away with us.

I must say the service was impeccable, we were looked after by a lovely gentleman called Paulo, who was very attentive throughout our dining experience. There was also a lady with a harp in the Palm Court, entertaining the guests and creating a wonderful ambiance, she even played the theme tune from Game of thrones! It was a very enjoyable experience and the afternoon tea was delicious, 10 star rating in my books!

The Dotty Dalmatian Afternoon Tea will be served daily until 31st August in the hotel’s Palm Court with sittings at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. Prices start at £37 per person.
